Metallic taste in electric kettle. Harmful?

There's this metallic taste in the water if i leave the water in the electric kettle overnight. My stove top kettle isn't like this. Is it harmful?

Sounds like it could use a cleaning (and generally i only heat plus/min how much i need), so take new water.

There is a possible remedy for this--baking soda, I think, but I've never done it. Hopefully someone will see this and provide the protocol.

your stove top kettle's probably a better steel than the electric kettle

the taste's probably from iron leaching into the water, it is just like how tetsubins can impart hints of metal into water....

puerlife, Yes, baking soda is good for scrubbing away minerals that cling to the kettle. It has had no negative effects for me while getting the job done.
