How to Tie a Tomobako/Pottery Box

by Abracadaver! » Sep 4th, '09, 15:14

I'm not sure if this has shown up elsewhere on the board, but here is a very helpful video via Toru at Artistic Nippon showing how to retie those pesky ribbons on Tomobako:

Enjoy!

That's a very clear video - thanks for sharing it!

Here's an older thread with links to other online resources, e.g. illustrated step-by-step instructions that can be printed out, plus another video :)

The nice thing about tying the ribbon is that when the knot is done well, it lies quite flat... so that when you stack one tomobako on top of another, each knot fits into the recess of the base of the box above it. Lovely system!

Chamekke, thanks for putting a link to your original post. I didn't realize that there was a video there, too.

Please don't feel badly - it's wonderful to see this topic come up again.

And the video whose link you provided is (I think) better than the one from the earlier post ... it's so much easier to see what's going on :)

Thank god for this topic and video!

I have to watch it each time, and pause, restart, pause, okay, yeah, that's it, oops, pause, rewind...

:D

I like the video link posted here in the initial post best.

THANK YOU!
