I'm looking forward to how this pot changes over time. Please keep let us see how this progresses.

Korean teaware is indeed known for its quality.

Cross-posting a few more pictures of my new gaiwan, courtesy of Tead Off. It's straw ash glaze over porcelain by Hong Seong-Il. I'm finding this glaze has an amazing amount of detail--the more I study it, the more I notice! It even has a lovely drippy-drape along the bottom as well.

And finally an action shot.

Very stunning! I might have to invest some funds to deaden my current TAD urges.

Quickly grabbing small drippy-drapey Tenmoku-Nuka cup to try to calm the sudden flareup of TAD....

Oooooh, very pretty....! I love the color combinations, and the flow created by the glaze.

The lighter glazing is rice straw ash glaze. The darker color is a glaze made from the clay for Onggi ware. It's a great look that Seong il has perfected very well.

2 weeks of use with Seong Il's Buncheong teapot. The difference is staggering. Hagi on steroids.

My first Seong Il pot went from this

after fewer than a dozen tea sessions. It's big sibling, however, remains much more subtly marked after many dozens of uses.

All the shino glazed pots I have from him have crazed. But, the Buncheong is particularly susceptible to this, like Hagi.

*thumbs up*

...Hong Seong Il is super nice. I showed him a picture of me cat on instagram and he actually responded to me. I wonder if there is a connection between cat lovers and pottery lovers.
