I agree completely with you. I really admire the lines of it too. The contrast between the smooth lines and the organic pattern of the seaweed is an awesome contrast.

Ohhh, I just realized this kyusu was Yoshiki!!! I have been wanting to procure a Yoshiki for quite some time.

I really like his round/ball shapes, not to mention the amazing things he does to the clay surface through reduction, mogake, etc.

Yes, the pot is made by Yoshiki. I purchased it from Artistic Nippon. Having never bought from them before, I was a little weary but Toru was absolutely amazing and so helpful! I would buy again from him in a heartbeat.

It took me a while to decide which artist I wanted to purchase. However, I kept being drawn back to Yoshiki. I completely agree with you about finding the round shape really pleasing.

I have seen the pictures you posted of your pottery collection. With all that Hagi, I was definitely drooling and in awe. It is pretty sweet to say the least. Do you think you will end up purchasing a Yoshiki kyusu? If so, what style catches your eye the most?

Oh and one last thing. Is there any other website that sells high-end Japanese teaware other than AN, Hojo, or Zencha? I have been on a quest but found nothing. Thanks again and happy tea drinking!

I'm not sure if your accountant will thank me for this, but there are some ebay sellers of good repute among those on this forum, for example Magokorodo. Click at your own risk......

Another approach is to pick the name of an artist whose work you've admired here on TeaChat, or via the website of one of these other sources, and google it or search for it on ebay.

Many of our own TeawareArtisans produce some quite marvelous work as well. I'd be more jealous of your pot if I didn't have my own fantastic kyusu from Petr Novak....

Yes, I can say with 100% certaintly that I will purchase at least one Yoshiki. Which is currently unknown. I like the reduction pieces with the bicolor effect of black and reddish. The mogake is really nice too. He also does some nice shiboridashi, but I do think whatever I buy first, it will be round/ball shaped.

Wasn't looking for teaware today but stopped by a thrift shop on a whim and walked out with these two. Sold separately and in completely different parts of the store, but same source. Normally don't like cups with handles, but these are alright.

My three latest tea-bowls from a local artist Tracie Griffith Tso. http://www.inksart.com/ It's hard to say which one I like best, but right now I'm leaning toward the hummingbird!

Awesome find, roughly 20 teabowls from the Vung Tau Shipwreck off the coast of Vietnam, found in 1989, and auctioned off by Christies in 1992. The ship was determined to have gone down in 1690. They come fully authenticated.

I found them at an antique store in Canada, and they are willing to ship anywhere in the world. I saw their entire collection in person, most are in perfect condition, a few have minor rim chips, and one has a crack. Several still have barnacles!

I'll post some (crappy phone) pics now, and better ones when I get home next week. I'll also post more info on the dealer, etc...
