This comes to mind: “In tasting tea, one person can taste tea’s essence; two people can taste tea’s delight; three people can taste tea’s flavor; but six or seven people together can only be called using (drinking) tea” (Chen Jiru).
Which confirms my personal impression, only drinking by myself I can truly appreciate everything a tea has to offer, even one more person is already a distraction.

Sometimes when appreciating tea alone, I get lonely. When that happened I often wrote a note to myself about the tea or went on Teachat. Now if that feeling comes, I usually enjoy the tea while also feeling lonesome. When w/ one other person, I try to remember to take delight in the tea & company w/o talking too much about flavors etc. (Often fail at that.) W/ 2 companions, I talk then drink, or drink then talk. I can appreciate one activity one moment & another activity the next moment, but not both together. > 3 people make that quite difficult.
