It is a lovely piece...all those rough strong lines but you can see that there is just enough smoothing and glaze to make it lovely to hand and lip.

Soo after a while, i got myself a new cup:) Hope you all like it (you've probably seen it before online).

I find that Kyoyaki are often overlooked for the more rustic styles. In Kyoto, you see so much lovely teaware with painted designs. Very nice cup.

Kyoto makes quite splendid pottery. And lacking for that one aspect like Bizen, Kyoyaki makes up for it by being so diverse it can almost all be made in Kyoto, or so it feels:)

I don't have that much of it though, and this cup has been alluring me for the last year. When i noticed it was priced down and coincidentally i had some money saved i figured i'd just get it. Now only that splendid hermit chawan from Seigan on magokorodo :D
