Here's another from Noutomi Susumu.

There's a very visible orange spot - I think this is related to iron(?) deposits in the clay.

Very nice. The classic Seigan Blue just never loses its appeal. This also seems to be a particularly good specimen. Congrats!

Wonderful Noutomi Susumu's cup. May I ask from whom you did purchase it ?

I just signed on with a new company and a new piece of Hagi would make a great gift for myself to use in the office. Any chance of getting another Hagi SO going soon?

Someone finally took out his camera after the move! I think I said somewhere that I had a new Hagi come for my birthday.

I have been lusting over pieces of this style for it must be two years now.

That reminds me a lot of the "Kohiku" Eiichi commission pieces in the earth tones and crackling of the glaze. I'm having a nice midday tea session with my 'Mojave' (Kohiku) cup right now, as it turns out.

What in particular attracts you to this style? The fire effects, the glaze textures, the subtle colors, the texture in your hand? I like all of these things about mine, and your new cup seems to have some of them--the fire effect in particular--amplified.

While I think my favorite will always be the Marshmallow/ frosting pieces of Hagi-yaki, the more and more I have gotten into pottery, the more I have come to appreciate all sorts of different styles, and different techniques. I think what really gets me about this piece, similar with the Kohiku ( which is probably why you called yours Mojave). It honestly looks like someone just made a cup out of mud, and let it dry. This might sound weird having it be a $60 cup, but something about looking at it is very humbling. Just how simple it looks, yet at the same time it really looks impermanent, like if I left it out in the rain it would wash away.

F***ing stunning, breathtaking!
Wow - what I wouldn't give for a nice size chawan just like that.
Amazing Chip!

Thanks Seeker. I have not seen "similar" offerings of Kashun guinomi from artisticnippon for a while.

I would imagine a Chawan would be pretty pricey.
