Old Chinese Jar...

by tingjunkie » Nov 19th, '14, 22:59

Anyone of our teaware/antiques experts immediately recognize this style of jar? It has two Jian Ding export approval wax seals on it. The inner clay sort of reminds me of duan ni, but I really can't be sure. Any info is much appreciated!

 That thing looks intense. You're not keeping any tea in it now, are you?

Dirty perhaps? I didn't want to clean it before I knew more about it. So, no tea yet.

Pretty cool, ting. I recently picked up a tea jar from auction that was sealed with tea heads in it. I really wanted the jar. And if the tea was any good, that would had been a bonus. Alas, the tea is not so tasty, but safe to drink.

Thanks for sharing!

It looks kind of like a soybean paste jar?

This kind of jar can find sometimes in Yunnan, in this green or jade green, but sadly all was used for some taste like soya paste, chilli paste or so, never can be wash and without smell...so sad because they are so cheap

It's definitely not as glazed/shiny as that on the inside. It really looks more like duan ni- but I'm pretty confident it's not.

Nope, different than Kao cha guan . My wife check it and she think is this kind of ceramics : 石湾窑 绿釉 , and the stamp on this jar you have is from this manufacture 石湾 合记 绿釉 , Qing period , this ceramics come from Guangdong province , Foshan city.
But here in Yunnan, we have ceramics call 华宁窑 and is similar too. Sorry for my mistake. hope is help
