Why not? I do. I have used both porcelain and Seong il's onggi clay jars to store oolongs and both seem to work well. If you are talking about long term storage(years) in order to age tea, I have no experience doing this.jaderabbit wrote:would it be OK to store oolong in an onggi jar?

New teapots and servers from Yi Yong Cheol will be coming your way very soon. Many will have leaf patterns applied to them both in white porcelain and celadon. Some beautiful work here by a very discerning potter.
Here they are. Please have a look.

Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
I received my items yesterday, a lovely little red pitcher, and a palest celadon teapot. They are exquisite. Thought I'd share the teapot, as well as a couple of comparison shots with one Hong Seong Il, and one Petr Novák teapot. I think they share a similar niche in my collection, and they compare favorably in quality.
If you are on the fence about picking up one of these pots from Yi Yong Cheol, I can vouch for the quality. I'm enjoying a cup of high quality Iron Goddess King at the moment, and this little pot treated it perfectly.
comparison, the pot with the green and orange is seong il, and the pot that is celadon with brush stroke is petr novák:
under lids (Novák, Cheol, Seong Il)

Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
You can see in one of the photos, that the Yi Yong Cheol teapot is curved the tiniest amount possible, for a right handed pour. Very nice attention to detail.
Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
Just listed: 2 new tea trays from Seong il, #22 and #23.

Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
I have added the following new items from Seong il:
teapots, 80ml-200ml
Servers, 120ml-200ml
2 sets of teacups, 40ml each cup
This firing consisted of saggar fired work. For those of you who don't know, a saggar is a container often made from high fired ceramic, which teaware is put into plus other materials such as ash, salt, and, seashells. The saggar is completely covered so no debris from the kiln accidentally touches the pottery when it flies around during the firing. Each piece can be created to achieve interesting effects. Seong il used a mix of his porcelain clay while adding pine ash (which fires light in color) or mixed ash which is darker, salt, plus seashells. This is all 'cooked' in the saggar and the effects are quite unique. There are some new designs that Seong il has created for all of the new work. Please have a look:

I am listing what I consider to be a wonderful small teapot by Seong il. It is 100ml and is perfect those who need a teapot of this approximate size. It is #101. Please have a look:

Re: Tead Off, TEAWARE ONLINE
I have just posted 3 New Seong il 100ml teapots. These are terrific examples of his work and all very functional for those who enjoy smaller teapots.
I am still waiting for a larger firing of teaware from him. Because of the heavy special orders that he has in Korea for his tableware, he is not able to produce the amount of specialized teaware that we all want to see. So these small offerings of some of his 'jewels' should be snapped up by those who want something from him. Please have a look.
