They sell good quality tea from China. I've just bought the Yu Run Tien Xiang, that tastes smooth, wild mellow and I really like it! The guy from nannuoshan sent me also a free sample of the Da Yi 7582 harvested in 2006 that tastes more earthly and vegetable...quite peculiar butI still prefer the Yu Run Tien Xiang!

Re: Official Pu of the day
Today, I had a few sessions with different Pu Erh from mid 2000s, all aged in contact with humidity and oxygen. Some of them were not that bad, but the humidity was quite obvious.
Re: Official Pu of the day
At the moment I am sipping 2012 Cangyan Gufeng Yiwu raw pu-erh and enjoying it very much. Yummy.

Mandala 2011 Phatty Cake in a 200ml Yixing (splitting it with my wife.)
This is one of my favorite ripe cakes I've tried so far, and being 100g cakes it is extremely affordable which doesn't hurt!

Re: Official Pu of the day
$19 per 100g sounds like pretty expensive ripe pu to me (unless I'm looking at the wrong tea). Would love to try some, though.
Re: Official Pu of the day
Per gram, yes. I was thinking more along the lines of being able to spend at/near $20 for a chunk without having to get either samples or a full 375-400g cake.

Man, I stared at that price for shu.
I'm ooooooollllllddd, or something like that. I have never bought material amounts of shu that expensive, but that's only because I bought most of it four years ago.
There is a lot of expensive label brand shu sitting at around the $60 mark out there. I would want substantial evidence that this particular shu is that good, because there aren't that many shu from 2011 which would be worth that sort of price! A bit of searching and you can get some pretty top stuff, again, at around $60.

This morning I tried a Pu' that I normally do not like but I was suprised by how nice it was. I had a sample of Teavivre's Fengqing Ancient Tree Raw Pu-erh Cake 2014 for my morning "pick me up" and it was quite nice. Very bitter. Unique flavor. Although, raw puerh does mess with my stomach if brewed too strong.
Re: Official Pu of the day
'04 private order from EoT. I've been drinking this tea a lot lately. It's priced well below it's quality in my opinion, I assume due to lack of neifei/known origin. Plenty of body, good flavors, relatively mature for it's 10 years of age in clean storage; and like David describes, very strong relaxing qi. I bought a cake back in June but just recently purchased a second one to ensure I can enjoy this tea for awhile.
Re: Official Pu of the day
Drinking a early spring Yiwu 2007 now. Mellowed, sweet and full body and fruity fragrance. It is aging well. Fully sealed tea since I bought it then and definitely it aged and age well.
Yummy!
Cheers!

08 Xiaguan round cake tiebing - Haven't tried this one in a couple of years. First few brews were so so. After about the fifth it started to taste right. Reminded me of why I started drinking pu in the first place.

Re: Official Pu of the day
Gotta love a tea that can take the abuse I have dealt out to the Lao Cha Tou that I enjoyed this evening. It started the usual way, put a few nuggets in the thermos, filled it with boiling water, and enjoyed and shared it during the afternoon. It still had a lot of flavor as I reached the bottom of the thermos, so I added more hot water, and left it overnight--but it took two days for me to get back to it, and it was still delicious--plummy, earthy, a little sweet.
Re: Official Pu of the day
'08 v93 shu is fully ripe for me. Later infusions has an excellent plum/wine base with wood highlights.
About as good non-special shu gets, and a good advertisement for the purchase of lightly fermented shu.

2011 Yunnan Sourcing Hui Run ripe today. This is one of my favorite shus. Deep savory yumminess with a very good mouthfeel and no off flavors of any kind. A really clean shu.

Ive been enjoying my cake of 2012 Yiwu Zhengshan Ripe Pu-erh. SWEET SWEET SWEET! Its seriously the most naturally sweet tea ive had to date. Nice fruit notes, smooth flavor, and a black liquor accompany the sweetness. Quite nice for an evening tea!
Re: Official Pu of the day
Had this again this morning. I made it before my hour trek to work and poured into a mug when I got in my office. Black black liquor. I expected to have to dump it but it was as smooth and sweet as ever. Very flexable shu!Poseidon wrote:Ive been enjoying my cake of 2012 Yiwu Zhengshan Ripe Pu-erh. SWEET SWEET SWEET!
