Re: hojo green teas and kawane zairai
I was thinking about making an order at hojo, too. this seller has got a high reputation both for teas and teaware. I'm pretty satisfied with the japanese greens I am drinking right now ( form o-cha, yuuchi-cha and teaway--I'm Italian too), so I was more interested in hojo's dan congs, but zairai seems to be an interesting asamushi... most greens are from yabukita or saemidori so this tea seems quite interesting, something to try at least! let's hope to get some old tea drinker's opinion!

You can try their Karigane too. Quite nice casual drink.

It's an interesting asamushi. I can't say it's my favourite sencha, but it is very clean, not grassy at all, and has tangy, citrussy notes. It's also cheap, by Hojo's standards, so if you're ordering something else from him, it's worth a try.
Re: hojo green teas and kawane zairai
From my point of view, Hojo has an incredible selection of beautiful teas and the best on-line service I have seen so far. I have never been disappointed. Unfortunately I haven't tried this very sencha. Be sure to let us know your opinion if you purchase it.Fireflower wrote:i woul like to try a japanese green from hojo, i understood that he have very good teas and i put my eyes on kawane zairai sencha.

Re: hojo green teas and kawane zairai
finally is it arrived and i tried it!
i can tell that is a wonderful tea, very full bodied and i very dominant chestnut taste! i can tell that is a very "warm"tea, not too much astringent.
wonderful leaves dried and also after use.
i tried it 80°c for 1 minute, i will try other brewings.
i can suggest this tea, i think is a very good quality as a more expensive teas but if you read about it in hojo website you can understand why there is this excpetional value/money.
