A few years ago (maybe 2010) I sampled their ￥15 little brick (maybe 2007) and remember it was pretty good. But they don't ever seem to have stock of more than a few years back.

2005 dry storage CNNP 7542 I've had stored in the living room here in Hong Kong since last year. I broke up the entire cake a while ago. It's coming along nicely and is less bitter than I remember it being, and has some very nice hui gan.

Drank tang han 2012 珍 earlier. It's said to be from Song mountain gushu early spring. All I can say is not young trees, at least from old tree. Got it at a very good price during group sales.

Somehow when during this tea, my mind got struck by images of the growth of a girl to adulthood.

1-2 steeps (5secs), spring flower flavor, brew is gentle and smooth.
Like a young girl having fun without a care in the world.

3-4 steeps (7&10secs), honey fruity flavor, brew gained depth on taste and flavor.
Like a girl going through school, learning new things, gaining wisdom.

5-6 steeps (12&18secs), light honey flavor, brew becomes light and refreshing.
Like a lady fallen in love. There's sweetness within the heart.

7-8 steeps (30&60secs), nice honey flavor, brew gained back strength and consistency.
Like a woman in successful marriage. Matured, stable and happy.

Is there a wrapper for this brick?

Nope. 4 bricks in bamboo. This seller's tea are all bamboo wrapped or in white paper. They mainly do custom order for retailers, therefore price lower. So there's a chance those house brand tea people buy came from them also

A couple of guys had pm me asking for the link to the gushu huangpian shu brick. As most of you will likely pay a sum on agent shipping it's better to reconsider after reading my review on this shu. If you really still want it. which likely pay more on shipping than the shu, then pm me for the link.

Oh ya, this is based on my personal taste and experience. You may not like it as much as I do, so take that into consideration.

Awaken the shu for 3 days, using a 200ml gaiwan and 7.5g shu. 8.5 or 9g would be better but I forgotten my shu gaiwan is 200ml

No. 1-2 steeps - 5secs
Sweetness: 3 Bitterness: 1 Consistency: 4 Astringent: 2
Huigan: 3.5 Shengjin: 3.5 Dryness: 2 Smoothness: 3.5
Remarks: Jujube flavor with barely visible dui wei (aka cardboard/storage smell). Aftertaste is little like eating red bean paste. Burped 3 times, with a bit of numbness on tip of the tongue.

No. 3-4 steeps - 5&7secs
Sweetness: 3.5 Bitterness: 1 Consistency: 3.5 Astringent: 1
Huigan: 3.5 Shengjin: 3.5 Dryness: 1 Smoothness: 3.5
Remarks: Jujube turns to nuo flavor with dui wei gone. A bit of sweating with numbness felt on the tongue and a little facial goosebumps.

No. 5-6 steeps - 10&12secs
Sweetness: 4 Bitterness: 0 Consistency: 3 Astringent: 1
Huigan: 3 Shengjin: 3 Dryness: 0 Smoothness: 4
Remarks: Nuo flavor reduced. The brew now is sweet and refreshing. Body felt relaxed.

No. 7-8 steeps - 1min
Sweetness: 3.5 Bitterness: 1 Consistency: 3.5 Astringent: 1
Huigan: 3.5 Shengjin: 3.5 Dryness: 1 Smoothness: 3.5
Remarks: There seems to be rock sugar flavor in the sweet and refreshing brew. Burped twice with awakening effect.

To me the taste value is good and really value for money.

Tonight, the 2010 Wild Tree Pu-erh of Dehong from YS. Again, it has that medicinal note that seems to be common in young shengs, but it's very smooth and mild, not bitter at all. Very sweet, too. I'm interested to see how this develops in subsequent infusions--I'm on the 3rd right now.

Had this one again tonight. There's just enough left in my sample for one more session, I think. Man, I love this tea. It's $45 for a 500g brick, and I think I'd like to get two--one to drink and one to save. Except that I could easily see myself going through a kilo of this stuff before it's had a chance to age much, and $90 would put a serious hole in my tea budget for the near future. What to do, what to do...

2007 menghai bamboo wrapped brick. Shou and I think I brewed it too light but there is always the next infusion. Very light in taste and sweet on the tip of the tongue.

I ordered a very cheap shu bing on ebay from one of those noname companies (had a crappy picture of a horse on the wrapper), and i have to say, it is outperforming some of my more expensive puer, for once it doesnt have a one dimensional taste profile.

06 ji-he-chaun Liu an . This Liu an is very smooth for a young tea just starting to get hints of medicinal taste. There is a Slightly cooling after taste and a noticeable cha qi. I am not sure how this will age as it is very smooth for a liu an this young and the liquor is darker than some 90s Liu an I have had. But my knowledge on ageing Liu an is limited to knowing that it usually gets better as it ages. But it's decent to drink now.

Don't need to be in really small pieces, somewhat like 8-20g per piece is fine. Then just leave it covered. Some prefer it to be in tin, some cardboard. I just like it to air out a bit (just my preference) in a moon cake box that have some holes which is part of original box.

Thanks. Ya that's the one, BUT which I gotten it last month it was only 32RMB then it went to 35RMB, now 38RMB Still considering if I should pay 6RMB more, though I should get 1 free brick for every 4 I buy.

My thought of this brick:
1. It has much less dui wei than most new shu. If I awaken it for a couple days, it'll all be gone.
2. Sweet brew, but it's expected from huangpian.
3. The material should be spring as I do see ma ti (horse hoot), but that's not the sure tell sign.
4. The brew color and clarity is what you'll get from similar new shu around >2 times the price.
5. Currently it's very smooth, light, refreshing, but I can still feel that "ohm" in my mouth. Those that u'll get from laoshu/gushu.
6. The leafs looks promising and will likely aged into something good.
7. Currently it's not the best shu I had, the 10RMB 2008 Tulin 100g shu brick had more complex flavor than this. But that Tulin brick didn't offer the additional experiences that this gushu shu gave.
8. All I can say is it's good value for money kouliang (daily shu) now, but if it aged well, it'll become something very dear.

Of cos it's just my personal take on this shu. Not saying it's a must buy for anyone, but I'm happy I bought it

Then again, a lot of this shu-tastes-like-cardboard is that it's supposed to be a nonoffensive drink that you have during or after a nicely greasy meal. If you want shu that stands by itself, you have to pay for it, in attention, sampling, and cash.

lol, I think I got some luck with shengs, even the cheap ones... about 70% of them were at least decent. 0% of the shus were decent but I won't give up on shus just yet, there's some 2009 Dayi Hong Yun's on their way, and If its really the same brick I'm thinking of, the brick that lordsbm posted above

Did you awake the shu? Meaning break up the shu into smaller pieces then put them in a tea caddy a week or two.
