I love that you are making the handles from vines
by hand.

Just wanted to show you some brushwork I'm trying again. The tricky part is getting it hot enough without too much ash to obliterate the designs. Placement in the kiln is everything... well very, very important anyway.

Wow... thank you for all the well wishes! I going to place them in mid-kiln, were it's a little hotter, like cone 11, but behind a slightly larger piece to block the direct ash flow.
... and there is lots of turquoise! for all you turquoise lovers.
All of the light blue glazes pieces in these photos are going to be turquoise. This is just some of them.

I am finishing up the glazing in the next day or two (probably two), then I will need a half day to wad them, and the other half of that day to prepare the shelves, grind wads off bricks (posts for the shelves). Then a day of loading and then putting in the "wicket" which is the brick door. Then, early in the morning... as the fog slowly rises out of the... sorry... got a little carried away there , I'll start candling, a low warm-up fire for a few hours, then the wood stoking for another 10-11 hours non-stop.
So lets see... how many days does that make? One, two, thr...four (and I needed only one hand! ) which is Thursday and Mary Ann is having a procedure that needs me driving her home from... So Friday I fire. Start unloading late Saturday?, definately Sunday. Grind wads off the bottoms, good enough for pictures, I'll sand them with wet/dry carbide paper by hand later, so I'll start posting pics on Sunday afternoon sometime.

You guys are too funny... I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets excited about this stuff!

My new set of teapots. Thanks to my tea drinking friends here on Teachat for all the advice on sizes and functions. The smallest holds about 5-6 oz. and will shrink some more after wood-fired. I'm guessing around 5 oz. finished size. The ones with lugs will be for my vine handles I'm making.

I'll probably glaze two more now, one in my orange shino and another in the turquoise. I want to see how the brush work comes out on the chawans and chaire, before I "risk" the kyusu. They take a lot of time to make and I don't want to waste them.
