I was surprised to realize that
black teas didn't have one of these threads so I took it upon myself to start one.

I've been drinking Adagio's
Yunnan Noir today. I oversteeped the first batch and it was on the bitter side. Later infusions were much more mellow. Malty with a hint of coco. Not my favorite
black, but good.
Getting ready to brew up some of Mandarin's 2010
Wuyi Jin Jun Mai - 2nd Grade in a few.

I actually feel like I am slumming it a bit this morning with a lesser quality blended Darjeeling from Lupicia. "A blend of quality first flush Darjeeling using mainly clonal species of the tea plant to produce a tea with pronounced floral characteristics." The hooked me in with "flowery" but the tea is pretty chopped and not top end. It's just "ok" I'll finish the bag, but I should have known better.

Makaibari Silver Tips. One of the best teas I've had from Darjeeling. Huge leaves, full flavor. Nothing shy about this one.

2009 Yunnan Pure Small Bud "Gold Tips" from Jas. It makes a very soothing, rich broth.
I am amazed at how the regional Yunnan flavor permeates so many teas from that area.

Organic Kagoshima Japanese Black Tea from yuukicha
Takes a lot of leaf to get a cup I like, not very impressive gongfued, pretty sensitive to brewing vessel, many similarities to a keemun imo
Though good nothing stands out at all for me...everything I find in this tea I can find better in a decent keemun with much less leaf ie. jing tea shop everyday organic keemun beats this hands down for me and its much cheaper and more complex (the yuuki does have a decent sweet aftertaste though and good about not getting bitter with long steeps)
I imagine their handpicked blacks are still worth a try, look pretty tasty
