This is almost categorically off-topic, but I've been busy lately due to a no-fault eviction.
My landlord's son ran into some trouble, so the landlord's giving the house I'm renting to his son. So they gave us until mid-May to gtfo.
I've got a verbal agreement on a nice house half a mile from work and will deal with earnest money & formal offer 2moro.
Thought I'd share the basic facts.

Bummer! Hope everything works out.
Closer to work, may end up being even better, huh?

Well, if all works out, I'll be trading an expensive 90 minute round trip commute for a couple of minutes on a bicycle, which is a dream for me.
And I'll be moving from a literally falling apart 800 square feet to a lovely, intact 1700 square feet with privacy fence, 4 bedrooms, 2 outdoor relaxation areas, and enough yard to install a proper putting green.
There'll be less tea money, but only needs so much, and I have enough sheng alone to last quite some time.

Glad to see you are getting closer to owning your own house, Padre, even if the fickle finger of fate did give you a bit of a rude shove to get there!
2 to 1 the son trashes the place within a year. Still, that is a lovely backyard you are giving up. I may have to rethink the six-month visit I had planned; without that lakefront view, I might just spend that time in Tuscany instead of the paradise that is MS.

I'll tell myself that with every mortgage payment.ABx wrote:Congrats indeed
I just moved out of a literally falling apart 800 sq ft house myself, although it was into a 1 bedroom apartment. Still, though, it is really really nice to be in a place that isn't falling apart, so I imagine that you will be in heaven in this new place

And Salsero: You may yet want to see this new bit of paradise. It's in a community that literally made WalMart build in all brick and hide it's climate control units so people couldn't see them from the Interstate.
Whoa. That is one powerful neighborhood association. That ranks right up there with the Sedona, Arizona one that refused to let McDonald's put up it's golden arches because yellow signage was against code. (I think they went with turquoise.)
Good luck with the move, and enjoy the new commute! Eugene's big on bike commuting, which I thought was a little crazy because of all the rain, but it is SO convenient!

Sweeeeet! You know we are going to have to do a video walk through before it's official.el padre wrote:A seller just made an extremely agreeable counter-offer, to which I agreed on the spot. We'll be closing this month.
She even agreed to have the carpets professionally cleaned and mow the lawn on the way out.(My realtor tossed those in just for kicks. heh)
