by tjkoko_off » Apr 15th, '09, 16:23

Is there a recommended website or info at this website offering basic information for preparing matcha and:

1. Presoaking the chasen;

2. Koicha preparation;

3. Usucha preparation?

Alex's (Space Samurai) matcha posts:

There is a ton of good info in these posts. Scroll down to see the more guide-like articles (with video!).

My matcha prep guide (sorry for the self-promotion):

Not as good as Alex's, but hopefully it is a bit helpful. There's nothing on koicha, as all my attempts have been unsuccessful... :cry:

I would not make Koicha unless you actually have Koicha matcha. To tell if its... Koicha is usually over $40 an ounce.

Well itoen has this awesome matcha available for about 20 $. It has been discussed by a lot of people and has had nothing but positive reviews.

Well, that one is technically $28.57/oz, so it's a little closer. :) That one is probably borderline but it could still work.

Ippodo wakamatsu costs only 1500Y per 20g, 3300 for 40gr shipping costs included which is about 31$ per oz and is definitively adequate for koicha.
