I'm always weary of places whose main sales pitch for tea is the "health" benefits. Especially places that tell people to drink a particular type for this benefit, and another for that benefit.
Sure there might be some benefit in drinking tea (in moderation), but thinking it's a miracle cure for everything that ails you is naive. What is worse, is people believing that being "all natural", makes it completely good for you. Tea is also high in oxalates (other foods are too) which has been linked to kidney stones. Which means it's not all good. "All natural" does not always equate for "good for you".

Well I do not really believe tea will make you lose weight although I do think that drinking enough regularly can help maintain weight though. And also good for you and your body in many ways. But I drink tea because of the enjoyment above everthing else.

I believe that tea can help with weight loss, or at least can slow weight gain, but you have to be careful. While tea is an appetite suppressant in the short run, I generally eat more after drinking a lot of tea.
Sometimes I suspect that people hear pu'er reduces cholesterol and then they change from daily salads to an all bacon diet and complain that they haven't lost anything.
I also think that people who want to loose weight should exercise and eat well instead of searching for a miracle. Some people are worried about weight to the point that they take up smoking or stop drinking water.

according to different oxidation(maybe so called fermentation) level, oolong has different performance in flavour and color.
ti kuan yin is heavey-fermented and heavy roasted, the content helps you lose weight is oxidated and roasted to less.
i'll say if you wanna lose some weight, drinking light-fermentated oolong or green tea may be helpful.
catechins only help prevent the synthesis of fat, not break down it..so regular exercise is needed as well..

As a consumer you have to be careful and remember that these people are trying to sell you something. Their main interest is to convince you that you need this tea for this particular reason. Its in their best interest to sell it so doesnt it make sense that they will make huge claims that are unfounded? Their trying to make money and will tell you what you want to hear to do just that.
There are benefits, many have been proven, but tea is an overall experience and any personal benefits (to me anyway) are just a bonus.
I look forward to the whole process; boiling water, measuring tea, smelling leaves, watching the leaves steep, making the perfect cup, sitting down quietly to knit with a beautiful rich cup of tea to warm me.
Just enjoy and dont expect and you may be surprised. Also, Rome wasnt built in a day and honestly I think any benefits will likely be marginal and take an extended period of time and consistency.
Best of luck I am sorry you were under the impression that you would be 20lbs lighter by now but alas we live in a greedy world.
