Report of the California Tea Escape

by daughteroftheKing » Apr 27th, '09, 12:33

My turn to check in here on my escape to California for tea with Victoria.

We've had some great tea in her home, enjoying a different piece of teaware each time. Among other places, she's also taken me to Hancook and WingHopFun (sp?). When I get back to Colorado, I'll post pix of the couple of simple pieces I've picked up (I have displayed great financial control, by the way!)

But yesterday was especially wonderful for an English-style tea lover like me:
We joined several of her friends for a tea at a sweet local shop called "Paris in a Cup". The other ladies asked V and me to choose the teas as it could only be 2 different ones for the 14 of us. Both teas were from Harney&Sons: Paris and Raspberry (the 2nd a tisane to bring happiness to the majority of the group :) ). I never got around to tasting the Raspberry, but the Paris tea was smooth and dark and went great with our 4-course  luncheon of scones and sweets and finger sandwiches.

Later we're catching a train to San Juan Capistrano to tour the Mission. There must be tea served for lunch somewhere nearby!

How great for both of you! I love the Missions but have never been to San Juan Capistrano. I hope you post photos.

You caught a train down to San Juan Capistrano? Wouldn't it have been easier to just drive?

Driviing probably would have been just as easy, but the train was quick and fun. This trip has been planes, trains, and automobiles.

Ha!! Well we *almost* went on a ferry, so I guess that would have counted!
But the day is still young!

The train ride was nice and something I have always wanted to do. It's only about 20 minutes. For some reason I thought it ran along the coast but it did not.
Anyway it was an adventure. We had fun!
