Amai no more

by Rodger » Apr 30th, '09, 18:56

I went over to Third Avenue last Thursday to get a cup of tea and one of those tea cookies at Amai, and the place was closed for good.

A sign on the door thanked the customers and neighborhood, and said goodbye.

The website, amainyc.com, is still up, and apparently Amai has disappeared into e-commerce.

This is a great loss for the society of tea drinkers in New York City. Amai was a clubhouse. We'll have to re-coinvene somewhere else.

Such good cookies though! Hopefully they'll still be able to produce them for e-commerce land.
