World Tea Expo Hotel Accomodations

by RockingtheRepublic » Mar 19th, '09, 01:12

Hey! I'm 99% positive I'm going to the World Tea Expo. Although I haven't gotten my plane ticket yet, and I haven't booked a hotel room yet. I was just curious where everyone is staying and how much they are paying. I would love to stay at the Mandalay but if I'm going to be staying there for a week the prices are a little steep for my budget right now.

Can anyone suggest any other options? Perhaps staying on the outskirts for a fraction of the price and taking a tram that's included? I'll even consider a student hostel! Thanks!

Last year (and maybe again this) Adagio stayed at South Point Hotel. It's about 6 miles south of the strip and was fairly nice.

I've also been getting some ridiculous offers from Wynn of all places. I'll email those to you as well, but they seem to be only valid Sunday - Thursday.

Not sure where I'm staying yet, and I also don't have a ticket... but I'm looking to head out and am 80% sure on being there.

Looking for sponsorship to make the trip. I'm excited! :-D

Thanks for the tip. South Point looks really nice.

I got an e-mail from the Wynn offering $129-$149 for a night. The hostel is 20-25$/night on average in comparison! And I found a nice motel for about $50 a night that's about a 15 minute walk.

How long is everyone staying in Vegas? I was thinking of staying 10 days then flying to San Francisco to check out the tea bars like Samovar!

And does anyone know what the vegetarian scene is like in Vegas? Not good I'm presuming lol.

I'm so excited to meet everyone! ;) Tea people are all so nice and friendly.

Hey are you looking for someone to cover the flight? And which state are you coming from!

Good luck! :)

I was thinking of going but disappointed when I found out on their website that it's for tea vendors and merchants only. I can probably get in by setting up an online tea store on Ebay and start selling tea and register as an online vendor. But I love my tea too much to sell them away.

Tea Vendors and merchants are always available to field our questions through emails, etc. The world of tea is always at our finger tips on a retail cyber level.

I've booked myself at the Excalibur. You should check it out. The group rate is $36/night Thursday & Sunday & Monday... it's $71 Friday and Saturday. Not too bad for a keen hotel.

I would love for someone to cover my flight, or share room expenses if anyone is interested. Don't worry... I don't bite... hard... ;-)

Thanks for the luck wishing!

The reason I recommend the the Wynn is because they recently sent me an email with rates of $109/night plus a free nights stay which works out to $55/night. Can't beat that offer, but I think it's only available Sun - Thu.

There *is* Lotus of Siam, the bestest Thai food restaurant in North America. And with it being Thai, I'm sure you'll find a lot of vegetarian options...
Now the problem is will you be able to stomach Thai food for 4 days straight?

Thai food (and most other SE Asian food) actually doesn't usually have a lot of vegetarian options, at least unless it's a specifically vegetarian restaurant. Fish sauce, shrimp paste, etc. are ubiquitous, and it's often difficult to get a straight answer about it. At the very least, do not assume that you will get a vegetarian dish simply by ordering whatever it is with tofu, and most places make their curry sauces in advance, often with fish sauce and / or shrimp paste.

Vegas does have a lot of good high end restaurants, and most high-end restaurants will accommodate special dietary needs. There are at least one or two veggie Chinese places (haven't been to any myself, as I haven't spent much time in Vegas), and a pretty well known vegan doughnut shop.
