Back from the hospital

by olivierco » May 16th, '09, 08:12

I had thursday evening an accident. I fell over my bike wanting to avoid a child who crossed the street just behind me. I only lost conscience for a few minutes. Nose broken (but no problem and no need for any operation), one tooth completly broken, two other damaged, a luxation on my left index, and twelve stiches on my face and in my mouth.
No other big problem except an quite scary face and a now very mild headache. I don't know how I did not to break myself any bones.
I guess some could explain it by the magical benefits of green tea.
The child suffered for a few light contusions as the police told me.

So I might be less present during the next days and I hope to have some tea very soon.

A bientôt,
Olivier

Oh no! I hope the bike is OK! JK, but that is a typical biker response, am I right?

I hope you will get well soon. Concussions are serious business. Please take good care of yourself!

I only have seen a picture of my bike (it is anyway the bike I use to go to work so not my best one). The front wheel is quite a mess but the rest of the bike seems OK on the picture. Asking to see a picture of my bike as I was just back from the ICU was actually my typical biker reponse.

Thanks for the wishes of recovery.

Oh no! So sorry, I hope you mend quickly, and that they can fix your teeth easily and quickly. :(

This is how Melody Gardot's music career got started, you know. If that's what you're after, I guess it's too late to suggest considering alternate means to obtain fame and fortune.

I am so sorry to hear. Best wishes for your rapid recovery. What a horrible accident.

I took a spill in the woods last week, but the only injury was to my ego and my only loss was a spoke magnet for my speedometer. Still, that was scary enough!

Oh man ouch! I hope you get a speedy recovery. Quite lucky with the lack of broken bones though! Although it does sound a little like you landed on your face :(

Thanks for all your kind messages.
My recovery is quite rapid. I should be home in a few days and ready to drink good tea (I have some ippodo shincha and some new teaware as well waiting for me at the post office :D ).
