In Hojo's shop in KL, they have a fantastic, large, carved stone tea table. It is simply gorgeous, refined, and, subtly carved with lotus blossoms. The stone slopes ever so slightly toward the middle where the drain hole is located. The stone is black. Putting a hardwood frame around it makes the most handsome tea table I've ever seen, but, it is large and really suits a commercial establishment. They may make smaller ones. They come from Taiwan but I have never seen any for sale. Anyone ever see this type of table?

This is 绿檀, certainly not bamboo. It is also probably the largest tea tray manufacturer in China. The company website is http://www.chinesetang.com/. The quality is pretty good. I want to buy one, but I don't know how I would get it back to the US. The retail price is about 300 USD, but the wholesale price is about 150.
If I found 4 other people who wanted one I might actually try to figure out how to ship them all to the US cheap. they are just so huge.
xuancheng, I went to the website and clicked on the English option, but it wouldn't recognize it. I can do a translation page by page but it will take some time! It is a gorgeous site and obviously quality stuff (appears to be). Thanks for the link...I will work on reading the contents!

Swozt, I went to the greenteapots and they only have your black table now. I am going to try to email them to see if there's something I'm missing. Thanks!swozt wrote:
Makes me feel so "pro" having such a tea table to work with. I bought mine from a local tea shop in Macau.
But you can go to http://cart.greenteapots.co.uk/index.ph ... 0&parent=0 and check it out.
Help posting
I think I found two tables that would work, but could use some feedback on which one might be best. They are both from Dragon Teahouse but I can't for the life of me figure out how to post links or pics like y'all do here! I hope the way I did it does not upset the moderators:

I find your thread interesting because just not too long ago, I too was looking for my "perfect" tea tray.
Well, from the pictures, the first 1 looks nicer. However in the second picture, I noticed that the brass / copper edges are lifted slightly from the wood. To me that will pose as a potential hazard especially if it gets worse. So the first tray is a no no for me.
The second sandal wood does look nice. But Greenish brown is not exactly my flavor. Nevetheless, that is a nice tea tray.

They make them in Fujian too(Jianyang near Wuyishan). My friend took pictures when he was there. My favourite natural wood tea tables are the ones where the tree stump actually grows around the rock, and then they flatten and polish the rock for the tea preparation surface. But I also like the wooden table with the rock embedded somewhere in it.Tead Off wrote:In Hojo's shop in KL, they have a fantastic, large, carved stone tea table. 茶也醉人何必酒?

I'm now on my second tea table from YS - the one shown above. The first order was lost and never got to me and this table finally reached me...but leaked all over the place during the first use. I'm about tired of this hunt for a decent tea table that's large enough for my needs. Anyone have ideas on what I can use to seal the thing?

Thanks, Yangshuoren. I'm not sure who Gordon is? I only know a few folks on here by their "real" name. I will certainly contact him if I can get his information. Thanks again!
