I am being blown away here by a Makaibari Green Delight that I got as part of a set of 12 one-ounce samples of first flush Darjeeling from Lochan tea. The first flushes have not thrilled me, but this green is quite nice, nothing like the Chinese and Japanese greens that I have had: Light (as you might expect), surprisingly good viscosity, peppery, minty. There's a lot going on in this stuff and it has a great aftertaste!

More tea for me today. Hooray!

I broke out a Winter Oolong that has been waiting for me and I had the gaiwan busy all day. My last brew was nearly colorless. I put those leaves through their paces.

Hope everyone enjoyed day one of the long weekend.

Probably less tea than usual for me. I'll try my best to get in what I can, though.

Cheap fix for my lack of a fair cup: an exceedingly plain ceramic creamer. Boring yet functional. At least I can use my smaller cups now!

I've been drinking Formosa gunpowder green today. I like the light toastyness of it...kinda like houjicha but much lighter.

Hooray, I've not tried this yet but I seem to have ended up with two packs of this instead of one.

Happy Days.

Sal that sounds really great. I bought so much from Lochan last year that was just very "average", that I really wasn't interested in repeating that experience. Especially in a year that Darjeelings are not at their prime. I had not seen their sampler till you mentioned it. Wish I had seen it earlier, I might have gone for it. Still their shipping is one of the highest around.
