Organic Oolong

by iheartea » Jun 2nd, '09, 14:39

I've been reading through the posts and I'd like to try ordering some organic wu yi through mail order. Please share your discoveries of a reliable, high quality source here in U.S., Taiwan or China. I've had success ordering green tea directly from Japan, so I'm ready to venture out into oolongs.

Thanks!

I've been enjoying some Organic Qi Zhong from Red Blossom Tea this week that I purchased last year and never opened. RBT is reliably ok in my experience, maybe not always exceptional but there are exceptions. For a better chance at exceptional organic I would look to Teaspring or Jing. The need for certified organic would steer me away from ebay vendors or chinese vendors, that term is a bit loose. Chinese claims to organic is even looser.

Also try Seven Cups. I know that last year they were trying to get Western organic certifications for some of their Chinese teas - I haven't checked lately. Also Jing Tea (in the UK) has several organic Chinese teas with European certifications.

Another place with European organic certifications of Wuyi oolong is Andao Tea.

You can also check with Jing Tea Shop (in China):

Also, this DaHongPao (a Wuyi tea) was just listed at TeaSpring although it has a Chinese organic certification.

Let us know what you find and how it is. I think it can be challenging to find a good, organic Chinese tea, especially as you move away from green teas.

Thanks for your feedback, TokyoB and Tenuki! I'll read and research those vendors. I've been doing green tea for a while, but I feel the urge to venture out and explore other tastes.
