Enjoying some Rooibos here in South Africa!

by FairTaxGuy » Aug 10th, '06, 03:45

Fellow Rooibos drinkers,

Just wanted to drop a line that I'm here in S. Africa on business and enjoy a nice cup of Rooibos every chance I get! At the locomotive shop here they use Glen brand tea bags. They do drink coffee here too but I'd say that the rooibos is almost as popular if not just the same as coffee from my experience. I think they boil it as well, not at 175 F degrees. It seems like they drink black tea too but rooibos seems to be more popular. With the Afrikaans accent they pronounce it as Roy-bose as well and not the roy-boss as we do.

Just an interesting note I thought I'd pass along while I'm still down here but I'm going to enjoy my cup of rooibos now! :)

Its a standard here too (at least everywhere I've seen) that rooibos is made with boiling water
Life is like a cup of tea, savor it slowly or it will be gone too fast
