Hello all!

by Elarya » Jun 19th, '09, 01:16

Well, I would have introduced myself earlier in the evening, but I just finished reading a 12 or 13 page thread on Teavana!

I quit smoking last September and put on some weight (emphasis on some). And somehow, tea became my new addiction. I have just been picking up a box of green tea at the supermarket - going through about 8 bags a day? Maybe I drink to much of it.. Anyway..

It dawned on me that a year or two ago (pre-quit-smoking) my sister's hubby got me some tea from Teavana. I never knew what to do with it so it sat in the pantry for a year before I threw it out, tin and all (obviously oblivious to a whole new world).

So I gave him a call tonight asking him what tea they had got me to order some more. On the phone he was adamant I had to purchase their tins, one being they are lined with some sort of plastic to prevent the tea from developing a metal taste. (?)

So me and the cautious shopper I am (procrastinating on working) decided to do some searches to see what other people are storing their teas in, and to get the opinions of the experts if these tins are crucial or just novelties for sales.

That is how I came to be here and your novel of the post on Teavana. So now I have my work cut out for me - to learn about all of these teas and purchase elsewhere.

I live kind of in the boon docks.. I have no idea what I will like.. but ever since I quit smoking, this addiction just manifested on its own! I have even turned my kids into tea drinkers :) But I am sure now by the looks of this forum, we are just now entering a new world, or well forest of leaves?

I am a single mom, and I live in the midwest and work through the home - thus the reason I have time to drink so much. That 8 tea bag a day could be more :) I cannot wait to see what I have been missing and am eager to put in an order somewhere? My cart as Teavana will remain abandoned.

I look forward to meeting you all! Sorry so long, need to learn to stop drinking green tea with caffeine before midnight!

Welcome Elarya.

Methinks you need some loose leaf tea and some sort of teapot type thing, especially if you work from home.

If you click up to the top right you can have a look through Adagio's, our hosts, site. They do a wide range of tea in sampler sizes which would make for a pretty good starting point in finding out what you like.

Good to hear you traded in smoking for tea drinking. I'm juggling both although tea consumption far outweighs the smoking.

Bienvenue!

As Proinsias wrote, Adagio is a good place to start, especially with their sample tins.

green tea has helped me lose weight, which was totally a bonus side effect I wasn't looking for.
