UtiliTea

by greentealady » Jun 23rd, '09, 22:27

Hi I just purchased this pot and was wondering if anyone has any trick or hints to make it produce the best tea out there:-) I have heard that it takes sometime to get used to. I am hoping it also does not contain any plastic, according to the picture it doesnt look like it. I brew mostly green/white and red tea.

Thanks

Hi GreenTeaLady,

thanks for purchasing the utiliTEA. I will note that there is a small sliver of plastic in the utiliTEA- this is the plastic view window. It is very small though!

As for making the best tea, do not actually put your tea leaves in the kettle. This will damage them and the utiliTEA is a kettle device, not a teapot. Also, it'll be a big pain to clean out the tea leaves from the pot. The meesh screen is for descaling purposes and not to strain the tea leaves.

To make the best teas, I would suggest using 1 tsp per 8oz of water, then heating up the water to either the green setting- for green, white, and light colored oolongs, or the orange/boiling setting- for black, herbal, and dark oolongs.

enjoy it!
