Dirty Kettle

by greenisgood » Jun 25th, '09, 12:35

My old Copco steel(?) kettle is dirty! I noticed this after I left some water sitting in it for about a half hour before making tea, when I came back it tasted like mineral yuck. With a quick scrub of the hand I realized that there was indeed brown mineral build-up (perhaps rust) on the inside of my kettle. Has anyone else had a similar situation arise, and if so, how did you deal with it??

Wipe it off to start? If you can wipe it off with your finger, you can wipe it off with a cloth or something. Try that first?

fill the kettle with a white vinegar solution, let it sit for a while then dump it out. Boil clean water in it a couple of times and dump it in the sink to get the vinegar taste out afterwards.

Now how would a zisha kettle rust? :D To get rid of scale you can use one of those metal abrasive scrub brush thingies for dishes.

Works for any kettle really. Takes some scrubbing so wear gloves.[/img]
