I'm saying 100%, nothing has failed me yet. Cheap herbal blends don't count, I didn't expect them to be very good anyways :P

Just had a cup of FF Darjeeling Risheet09, might have another. Then some greeeeeen, and after that some Masala CHAI(i am having withdrawals)

Everyone do something cool today!

I'm saying 50% because I don't drink tea nearly as much as I want to. My new hours at work and killer and walking in the door at 11pm leaves no time for gong fu :(

I went conservative and said 90%. I do not think I had a single dud this year. There were a few that could have been a bit better, and I have to be optimistic that there are still better teas to come. But I have been very satisfied.

Kirameki to begin the TD. Along with a flock of cats ... SweeTea, Koi, Lili, and Pyrit.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I gave Mum a canister of Mariage Frères Fujiyama sencha since she's been wanting to get better grade green tea...maybe she even gets to like it now. =)

And I made myself a pot of equal parts Golden Nepal/Golden Yunnan/Jing De black which while an interesting experiment(they all smell of various dried fruits so I figured they would combine well) was way overbrewed-I blame the heatwave that has besieged these parts. I'm not good with heat

I am drinking a Black Ruby tea from Tillerman Teas and boy is it surprising!

It started off with a raisin-y scent and the longer it's sitting here next to me (4th steep now) it is turning downright blackcurrrant on me... I don't think I've had this happen in a tea before. I don't mean the steeps are changing with the new steeps, I mean this steep's scent/taste is growing as it sits next to me in the cup

and now... my lower lip is starting to tingle slightly

The first 6 months of 2009 have had ups and downs in terms of tea. The year started off with a bang, as I had received the 2008 Yutaka Midori for Christmas which made January awesome. I also had the oolong box pass samples early in the year which were also incredibly tasty. As those samples disappeared and I ran out of the Yutaka Midori, tea time was not as great, but that improved when Den's came out with the Sakura Sencha. The other green teas in that order were mediocre, but held me over until Shincha season! Of the two shincha that I had, the Fukamushi Sencha Supreme was amazing, but the 2009 Yutaka Midori was a bit of a let down. At the moment, as June comes to a close, I am in the process of finishing off more teas so things have been decent but not stellar, though the teas I got recently from the New Mexico Tea Company are excellent.

July should be spectacular though, as I just placed an order with Yuuki-cha after learning that everything was 10% off for the month of July. For some reason "Sale" broke down the last barrier that I had with making an order. I will soon have their Yuuki Yutaka, the Magokoro, Kawane no Kaori, the Gyokuro, and a new tea pot to brew them in. Yay!

Currently in my cup is Yutaka Midori. I brewed it with 2 tsp of leaf to 5oz of water, which resulted in a very brothy first steep. Time for the second, as my cup seems to have emptied itself while I was typing.

My "tea year" so far has been terrific, mainly b/c I got to visit my friend-via-tea
Victoria for a few days for a California Tea Adventure in April. :)
