Another tea video - Pinglin, Taiwan

by TokyoB » Jul 5th, '09, 09:12

Hi. Found this video from the Bizarre Food series although there is no "bizarre" food this episode. It focuses only on Taiwanese tea and using tea to cook. They visit a tea shop and farm in Pinglin.

Have you hear the sentence where Andrew Zimmerman said that there are teas that cost 7000$/Pound?

I have heard that the prices of prize winning teas can be that much or more. I assume that the first place tea in a competition can get bid up to prices that make no sense (to mere financial mortals.)

The most expencieve tea I have seen sofar on the online market were the 50`s Hong Yin from houde for 355$/10 grams, around 12000 $/cake, from green tea category maiko`s yamashita Yashiki no cha for 270 $/ 100 grams, and bassaro sold in 2007 an award winning yame gyokuro, that looked awesome on the picture, in 25 grams packs but I don`t remember the price, it was high as i recall.
