I don't really have a budget, but I've spent more than I thought I would due to buying a lot of FF Darjeeling this year and finding a couple new vendors.
Started my morning with a Japanese Black. In my cup currently
LiShan from Floating Leaves Tea.

Genmaicha with matcha most of the day and then switched to a Li Shan oolong. I haven't had much Taiwan oolong for a while ... the color of the broth is so greeeeen! I am used to rosy tinted yellow brew, but I had forgotten this green tint that some Taiwans have.
I was good. When I spoke of tea I spoke of tea alone. I may bow out from comments about teaware ... that's where the real money goes!
Mrs. Chip and Herb_Master thanks for the nice picture comments. I am really loving handling, looking at, and photographing these little ivories that Steve of the Gainesville T’Buzz™ has let me borrow. His mother collected them some 40 years ago during her travels in Asia. Many of them seem actually to be seals with etched writing on the bottom. The detailed workmanship is amazing.

Hmmm... if I had a tea budget, I'd certainly be somewhat OVER it. This is why I don't have one. Like others said, I just try to be reasonable. If I spend more on tea than I'd planned, I spend less elsewhere and it all evens out. I bought more shincha than I'd expected this year, because I love it more than I'd expected.
In my cup right now is a delicious oolong sample from TeaHome: Shan-Linn-Shee (Fir Creek) High Mountain Green Oolong '09. Really delicious, and more so because I haven't had much green oolong lately. This one has a touch more astringency than I'm accustomed to, and it's sorta nice. The beginning of each sip is smooth and buttery and alittle sweet, and then there's a sharp little kick at the end. I've been pretty happy with the samples from TeaHome so far, and can't wait to try more. There goes my non-budget.

***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***

There are three ladies here permanently atm. We'll be getting another lady who has just given birth, and a baby girl born last week, in a few weeks. I'm thinking we can make things comfortable for seven or eight guinea pigs but the plan, at least on my side, is to take things slowly.Mrs. Chip wrote:Proinsias wrote:I'm not much use at saying no and my other half is pretty good as saying please, please, please. I have just spent the whole weekend building and converting a garden shed into guinea pig paradise for the rescue girls we have and some of the foster ones on the way.Kool!
How many will you be fostering?
Sounds familiar.

When I started 2009, I had but 35 different teas. Now I have approaching 350!

:O :O :O Wow.
I looked though my tea cupboard and counted 45 teas. That includes all little sample bags and what have you...and it stresses me out, I feel I have too many.
That said I placed an order for some Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong and Gopaldhara FF earlier today. I really am an idiot. :D

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 7/21/09 2009 Tea expenses?
Now I don't have a large number of tea's, but on a students budget I'm not doing bad, but when I'm placing orders for say stuff like aged sheng from Nada, it adds up quickly, deceivingly quickly, as its all listed in Pounds. but that's not nearly most of my spending, I may only have a few teas, but I'm drinking them at an alarming rate so I need to keep ordering more.
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 7/21/09 2009 Tea expenses?
Hmmm... I've spent my entire year's tea budget and I'm low on Yan Cha and high on dancong, and I have enough Japanese greens to last me until February. I think I can finish the year at 25% over budget.
Had Adagio's Ali Shan with breakfast, O-Cha's Ujibashi San no Ma with lunch, Ippodo Kanro as an afternoon tea, and Foojoy aged Pu-Erh as a late night pick-me-up.
