Digital scale

I'm looking for a scale to measure my tea as well as other ingredients. Do you have a favorite brand?

I've had my eye on this one, tho I haven't actually bought and used it:

I'm not sure if it is precise enough--it's precise within 0.05 oz (which is 1.4 grams). I'm curious to hear what other people use...

A lot of members have one version or another of my weigh 400z. Just google for sources. It weighs to 0.1 gram which is pretty good.

It is really compact, cheap, and even comes in colors.

I have both a myweigh that's used mostly for tea, and an Escali for kitchen stuff. But if you want to use it to measure ingredients as well as tea, I'd recommend getting a kitchen-sized one.

Some of the Escali ones are around $20 US.

But I would urge you to try just measuring tea for brewing by sight most of the time. You'll develop a better intuitive sense of how much tea to use.

i bought one like this off of ebay..came with a couple calibration weights too. 15 bucks shipped but you can find more around 10 that are the same..just search for "digital scale .01" and its at .01g. i think they are made for jewelry/gold really but it works great for me

I got mine from a vendor on Ebay...I think the vendor's name is Extremedeal or something? It was a pretty good deal but shipping was slow, if I remember. I think it was recommended to me somewhere on TeaChat when i started drinking tea seriously.

I use a 100x0.01 g jewelery scale similar to what iannon posted. I think mine is accurate to about +/- 0.03g. Which is really much, much more than I need. I usually try to be within +/- 0.5g.

Now you'll just need a highly precision instant read digital thermometer, and volumetric pipette.

Weighing water is more accurate, especially with hot water.
