My teaware is mostly eclectic. If I'm sharing tea with family then they will see matching cups, but that's as far as I ever match.
Fuji The Ultimate was my breakfast tea followed by Adagio Ali Shan and Uji Miyabe. I might brew a dancong later tonight.
Re: Sunday TeaDay 8/23/09 Matching or Eclectic?
Mostly eclectic, lots of odds and ends... only a few matching things. I like to mix it up.
I had infusion # 12? I think, of some re-roasted foojoy monkeypicked TKY that won't die. It's been a few days now, and I'm ready to move on.
But it was nice.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 8/23/09 Matching or Eclectic?
I am mostly eclectic (which is stressing out my strong structured tendencies
), but have a few special fully matching sets, some Japanese, some Chinese ... I tend to reach for sets on a more rare occasion. They are beautiful, and I enjoy them very much at those times.
But most of the time I go more eclectic. I pick a tea, then a pot to go with that tea, then cupware to go well with the the tea, pot, and mood. There are pairs for when DW joins in so there is at least matching cups ... I am not that eclectic I guess?
Began the TD with Yutaka Midori from O-Cha. I used a fukamushi kyusu, and then Hagi cup. SweeTea joined in while a herd of other cats cluttered the TeaTable.
Next up was Matcha served up in an Elm Studio "Summer Chawan" with DW.

... and now Honyama asamushi from Rishi. Good and cheap, relatively speaking brewed in my oldest non preowned kyusu and served up in a Noutomi Susumu Hagi bowl/cup.

Don't the cats have their tea bowls?
Kuki-cha in my cup.

LiShan in my cup this afternoon. I just restocked from the Floating Leaves Tea sale, since I sent the last of mine off in a swap. Nice to have it back in the house. It's one of my favorite of '09.
DH just finished helping me build a new bookcase to hold my teaware. (Well ok, he did most of the work) I really hope to get some shots of my new set up. And maybe some group shots of all the boxes too. Unfortunately most of those will have to go to the attic now, since there is just no space. But if I get it all put away I'll be finally organized!! Maybe?? Until the next Hagi offering???
I keep getting logged off today. What is up with that? Three times since I signed on. Strange.

Most of my teaware does not match, but tends to be in black/white/gray colors as those are the ones I like most.
Ti kuan yin this morning, didn't have time for any tea later in the day.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 8/23/09 Matching or Eclectic?
Mostly eclectic...anything matching is only because I wanted one thing and something else "came with". For example, I got my sweet little porcelain bamboo kyusu from ebay and it came with 4 cups. Turns out I love the cups..but rarely ever use the pot in the same session as the cups.
I did have a pair of matcha bowls made with different colors on the inside and outside opposite of each other, so they "match", but they aren't the "same".
Mostly iced tea today...slept verrrrry late due to a gorgeous evening spent outside at a festival listening to a friend's band, so I basically missed that slow easy Sunday morning savoring-a-big-pot-of-tea time.
I hope all the 'chatters had a fabulous weekend!

Yeah, strange indeed. Only 3, I thought I logged you off at least 6 times ...

Re: Sunday TeaDay 8/23/09 Matching or Eclectic?
Can't say that I have too much that matches. A gaiwan and two one ounce teacups have the same pattern, other than that, not too big on the matching front. If I like something, I don't worry if it goes with the rest of my stuff (because it most likely doesn't.) With the exception of the two little cups that match my gaiwan, a big part of the reason I got them was due to their pattern, but I was also on the lookout for some very small cups.
