According to Webster's, an herb is “any plant with leaves, seeds, or flowers used for flavoring". But you might respond.... "Wait a minute - what is the difference between a spice and an herb, then?"
"...the leaf of a plant which is used in cooking is referred to as a Herb and any other part of the plant that is used to flavor food is termed as a Spice."

Confusingly, a flower used as flavoring in foods and beverages is a spice.
I selected 'other' as one of my choices because I was thinking of spices for chai and mulled tea. I didn't realize that flowers were considered a spice until I went looking for the definition of an herb!
You never know where a teachat post query might take you.
Sencha in my cup. Spent a trying three hours attempting to set up a piece of field equipment for soil sampling this afternoon. Needed more than whimpy cup of herbal tea to easy the knot in my neck. Goodbye sleep. Hello relaxation.
