induction uses a magnetic field to cause ferrous items to heat up. There are induction kettles around. Expensive, but if you are worried about electricty and water mixing - the kettle is completely seperate and has no electric bits at all. You can get glass ones with induction bottoms.
I have an induction kettle (kamjove) and also an electric kettle by DeLonghi. Both are great. Delonghi >>> "The kettle’s concealed heating element is hermetically sealed to ensure the purity of your water"
Honestly, the DeLonghi is fine (I have two), but wanted the Kamjove due to TWAS (Tea Ware Acquisition Syndrome)
