Should I invest in this?
Well I may buy some water heater device or tea maker machine for Christmas for myself. Hehe, so anyways I heard good things from Zojirushi and decided to have a look around on the site. Found this http://www.asiachi.com/zocdinhotwad.html through one of their stores. So I guess I have a few questions since I know a few of you on this board have them. Does it have a digital readout that says the temperature as it's heating up? What if I want something like at 140 degrees? Would it heat up to that point and I would just be able to dispense the water without having to fully heat up to a preset temperature? I know it only have like 4 different temperatures but If I could just dispense the water when it reached to a specific temp without having to wait all that time it would be great. Oh and by the way if some of you are wondering it costs $160, but I could justify the purchase seeing as how I could use it for a ton of different things as well.

I did check them first, didn't know shipping was free though, I will look into that for more online purchases. Sad thing is they don't have any in stock, nor does it say when they will have any. I will wait till Dec and check again, if not then I will shell out the extra cash and get this. Idk if I can get the black one on Amazon either, again I would be willing to shell out the cash to get the exact one I want. So then is that a yes on getting it (regardless of where I buy it from)?

Awww... someone who actually owns one didn't answer your question! :-/
I'm actually looking for just the same thing, myself, so I can brew tea in my room rather than walking out to the kitchen every half hour.
Have you checked out Zojirushi's american website? Here's the feature list and comparison chart for their different models: http://www.zojirushi.com/ourproducts/ho ... e_pot.html
Also, a note for owners who reply; this would be very helpful:
(a) What model are you using? (list is in link above)
(b) As asked before, does the LCD show the current temperature of the water as it is heated?
Thanks!
P.S. - I was just looking through the manuals for the Zojirushi pots, and found that the JSC models (upwards from $120) only show the temperature in 10-degree increments, and the LCC models (upwards from $150) only show them in 5-degree increments! Even my cheap probe thermometer has a resolution of 1.5-degrees! I may just look for a high-quality kettle and use that instead, cause I'm a tad obsessive-compulsive about the temperature of my water...

Good questions studio271, I wanted to know the same as well. I was looking at the newer 5 version. 5 degree increments is fine for me, unless I need some weird like 2-3 degree difference I shouldn't need to be quite that precise. Besides if I did need that then I would run out and buy a thermometer. Yeah it's a pain having to microwave water, I don't use loose leaf tea yet but I use it for a lot of other stuff.
amazon has the 3 literdeadfingers wrote:I did check them first, didn't know shipping was free though, I will look into that for more online purchases. and the 4 liter
http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-CD-LCC4 ... ome-garden
though the fourth letter does not ship free
is there a particular reason you need the five liter?
umm i said i had one earlier.studio271 wrote:Awww... someone who actually owns one didn't answer your question! :-/

i have the 3 liter lcc one. works great.
it does show the temp as it is heats to five degree increments.
i have had mine for over a year now.
as for the 1.5 degree temp on cheap hot water pots i dont know. i mean anything can tell you its at any temp, but part of the deal with more expensive machines is that they give you a factual reading.
for example, would it be better for your tea if the reader says 182.5 and is actually at 187.5 or that it say 180 and you KNOW its at least 180 but not more than 184. for me feel more comfortable with this 180-184 method, and i know that it is 99% accurate than with something that is less accurate but more specific.

well no reason for having a 5 liter one really. I just want that model since well it's a newer model and it seems to be the only one that comes in black. Insignificant things yes,
but I want that. Besides I already contacted the company I put up a link for asking them about their shipping, right now they have free standard shipping for that product so it's good for me anyways. On that note I just went by the BX again and found that same machine, I took a good look at it and yep looks exactly the same, it's a 2 liter model I believe. It's made by "Tiger", some Japanese company, but exactly the same. They had one of those, I also saw a 4 liter one, again exactly the same style. The 2 liter was $79.99 and the other was $94.99. I also saw another one similar but it was completely in Japanese (even the buttons on the machine where in Japanese), it seemed pretty cheap and boring, besides the fact that I couldn't read the box. Waiting on an email back from those guys, if everything turns out right I should me ordering it tommorow.

cool. check out the maker of the machine and find out what the size is even the 3 liter one i have is very very large. also check out some differences between the models. i dont remember there being anything major, but that last thing one wants to is pay extra for a "feature" that is really an annoyance. but good luck and let us know how you like it!deadfingers wrote:well no reason for having a 5 liter one really.
