I only have a small amount of Silver Tip tea from what I understand is Ceylon. So applying strict interpretation, it's not really Indian. But surely it must be? Way to confuse me, Indian subcontinent.
Binge drinking White Peony today.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 10/08/09 Indian teas?
I have some Assam and a green Chai. Right now I'm drinking the other one that I have, an Oliphant Garden Mao Feng Green.

Began the TD with Hatsumi from O-Cha. I seem to like this one brewed more mildly, semi English style. SweeTea had no complaints while Wulong, Pyrit, and Fuji made it clear a bigger butcherblock/TeaTable is needed, then a bigger kitchen will be needed ... but the kitchen table has already been removed in favor of more tea theme furnishings.
Received Sencha Premier yesterday ... might break it out in a bit.

THEY DOMINATE MY COLLECTION!!!! INDIAN TEAA YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! masala chai masala chai!!! Indian food/beverages dominate my whole diet
I love darjeelings, assams, ceylons, haven't gotten to try any nilgiri yet but that will happen once I got some more dinero. Currently have three or four darjeelings lying around and an indian green... Would have more but I drink them too fast
Puttabong has been my favorite lately. But I am out of sugar!!! ahhhhhhh two days without a good sugary assam(mango lassi has been the substitute)! For some reason half of my turbinado sugar disappeared overnight few days ago...roommates...WHO WOULD EAT OVER a pound of sugar without me noticing!!!
Had some Sae midori this morning, then uji asamushi sencha around lunchy time. Craving some darjeeling....need a study boost for fluid mechanics/rock mechanics! Later dudes, protect your turbinado sugar.

Oh, yeah, Indian tea...yummy (I'm counting Ceylon here, too). Ceylon, Assam (don't have a great one at the moment), and Nilgiri (waiting on the UPS guy to bring me some NOW)...oh, yeah! Ceylon Sonata from our hosts is a pretty awesome tea!!!
No Indian tea yet today...this morning Yunnan Imperial from TeaSource. I'm waiting on the UPS truck for this afternoon's tea!
Cold, rainy couple of days here...odd forecast is calling for "inches" of rain. Great weather for curling up with tea!!!
Happy sipping,
Dreamer

Yes, I like Indian teas, and have several assams and always ceylon. Not to mention I always have at least a couple of chai blends on hand. Yummy!
It has been pointed out to me that I've been remiss in "showing off," and that certain people on this board are aware that I have new additions to the Geek Collection of Warez. So, to make amends, I posted a pic or three in Show-Off.
Perhaps others will be forthcoming. The weekend is almost here!

Re: Thursday TeaDay 10/08/09 Indian teas?
Despite today's topic, did not drink any Indian teas.
Next up was Matcha from Zencha in a dramatic Cory Lum Shino/Soda Ash Chawan.
Followed up with a tasting of Sencha Premier from Adagio.
And finished a great TD with Rishi Organic Silver Needles with Mrs. Chip served up in some Philly Chinatown Jade "bowls." The Silver Needle was a perfect choice to serve in the maiden use of these really beautiful bowls, allowing both the enjoyment of great tea while still being able to fully enjoy the jade.
These jade bowls were a great find from around a year ago, truly amazing, and with overhead or back lighting, they just light up spectacularly. Geek would have a field day with these!!! I need to see if the store still has them ... SOON.

Was this was one of their new matchas from Yame? If it was, how would you compare it to Uji matcha's that you have tasted?Chip wrote: ... Next up was Matcha from Zencha in a dramatic Cory Lum Shino/Soda Ash Chawan ...

I have some Assam and Ceylon, both less than 3 months old, and some Nilgiri and Keemun that are considerably older.

Yes, and it is very good, very enjoyable, very fresh tasting, very vibrant. But as much Japanese leaf tea I drink, I lack much of a basis of comparison when it comes to matcha. I need to change this situation.brlarson wrote:Was this was one of their new matchas from Yame? If it was, how would you compare it to Uji matcha's that you have tasted?

I did have the organic Yame from Yuuki-Cha, and this is much better IMHO.
