God! After writing this above, I just had this vision of an installation / performance art piece. An ultra-modernist "industrial level" Chanoyu.

Furo is a microwave. Chagama is a fused quartz beaker. Hishaku is a pipette. Chawan is a lab-grade porcelain crucible. And so on. Take that idea out to all the objects associated with the traditional ceremony.

Not sure if you then "industrailize" the tea room also ..... or stuff all that modern stuff into a wabi-sabi chashitsu. Hum..........

All treated with the same care and "performance" quality as a "normal" ceremony. Everyone dressed in white lab coats.

Hum.... what is the shomen of a lab crucible?

I need more time in my life to pursue all the possibilities!

best,

............john

And +1.There is no such thing as "the best way" of brewing tea, it is just "your way" that matters.
