Gongfu tea tray

by betta » Oct 11th, '09, 11:46

I saw several times very nice gongfu tea trays made of carved wood in China. They are indeed piece of art. I believe many here have beautiful tea trays made of wood, bamboo, metal or clay for their gongfu tea ceremony. Kindly please share it with us if you don't mind :D
This is mine, made of clay:

I got it custom ordered couple of months ago from chinese kungfu tea art store on Ebay. Jerry was very helpful and I got already a tong of 7542 sent along with tea tray.

That is really beautiful!! And so unique! Is it heavy?
Love the color. Congrats!

My everyday tray is from Andao and works good as I need to move it around a lot. But my work tray is nicer:

Victoria, yours is very cool. Never saw one in a shape of a lotus leaf before, very nice one! :D

Mine is heavy, about 3-4kg so I put it on the table. My other one is stainless steel tray, I don't dare to show it here since it is so heavily stained

Thanks Betta -

I think it is from the late 1800's, 1880 or so. It is fairly large, but I like it. I use more leaf than with the yixing, and very short steep times.

Now that's a carved tray! Really stunning Tom. I hope someday to have room for something large. :)
