I've been around a long time, drinking Adagio for a long time, just haven't posted here lately. Best product out there for tea in my opinion. I'm just posting because I'm fristrated with the policies involving gift certificates and "free shipping". I just want the people at Adagio to consider fixing/rewording some things.
Grrr, "free shipping" for ordering $50 or more isn't free if you have the $2 surcharge. I'm sorry, I thought shipping was free... not just less. There is no warning this doesn't include the rural surcharge. Maybe some warning so you don't assume free shipping means free shipping for even rural people?
Also, why is it impossible to redeem more than 1 gift certificate at a time? I accidentally turned my frequent cups points into a small-ish gift certificate, and now I can't use that with another GC I was given for my birthday. To redeem it I have to place another separate order (and pay yet another shipping and rural surcharge)? That's pretty silly -many place can redeem multiple GC's. Just my 2 cents on a few things.
Ps. I can't wait to get my next tea order, just was annoyed the purchase didn't go as smoothly as I hoped.

Sorry for the confusion. FedEx tacks on an extra 2 bucks to deliver to rural areas and calls it a 'rural delivery surcharge'. The way our checkout code is written, it calculates this fee after the shipping cost is determined. I'll look into the possibility of amending it, but considering that we so heavily subsidize shipping to begin with (about $8 to rural addresses), I'm not sure how much further we can reduce it.
As for the multiple gift certificate issue... Many years ago, we had multiple gift certificate fields in the checkout, but realized that only 2 or 3 people a year used multiple GC within the same purchase. We made the decision to remove the additional GC fields and thus simplify the checkout experience.
For your convenience, I have combined your two GCs into one (use the one send to you for your birthday). Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Aw, Thanks Ilya!
I knew you could fix it -you always make things work! Thanks for combining the gift certificates, now I can go back and add a bit more tea to my order and place it today!
I know you guys are great charging a flat fee for shipping, I have no problem with it. Maybe you can just put one of those little stars by the free shipping to say "Does not include rural surcharge" -that would have satisfied me. Maybe I'm just too picky -as long as I'm warned I'm fine with it.
Sorry if I sounded too grumpy in my earlier post, I've just had a bad day and was trying to purchase tea to treat myself when I ran into all these little unforseen technical difficulties. You guys are the best and I firmly hold that you have the best tea out there -bar none. Worth it even with a few technical difficulties.
Cheers, and thanks ever so much Ilya...
