Organized at last!

by Victoria » Nov 11th, '09, 16:47

OK, I guess this falls under "Teaware & Accessories" since it is storage for tea! So yes, after finally getting my teaware under control (for now), I moved on to my sorely neglected tea storage arrangement. With my oven not working, I had stashes of tea in there, plus the pantry, plus on the kitchen counter and a few other places. And too much of it! After sorting through and throwing out the old stuff, and trying to find homes for some of the still good stuff, I think I am finally done.

I cleared out most of the kitchen island and DH installed sliding baskets for me. After sorting and labeling it now looks like this:

I still have wayyyyyyyyyyy to much tea on hand, but at least now it is organized and I can find everything. My goal now is to drink more, toss more, buy less.

Wish me luck!

Wow, that looks great, Victoria!

I agree, though, you have LOT of tea! Makes me feel better about how much I have! :D

I like the massive amount of Hou De and Jing Tea Shop offerings in one of the oolong drawers.

Yeah, that's a lot of tea to drink up. No wonder I stress about it! In the bottom oolong drawer, the Hou De, Jing Tea & Tea Masters, much of it is compressed and vacuum sealed, so I am hoping it will stay ok. My kitchen is relatively cool all the time. I plan to try and weed it out pretty radically in the days to come.

Cool collection, Victoria..
I have been drinking most of my oolongs in the last two months. Somehow I feel happy to have more degree of freedom in drinking tea, not exclusively only puerh. This has tempted me to get some oolongs again next year :D

I recently did some downsizing, though nothing compared to your collection. Just be careful because sometimes it will start to feel like a chore. That amount of tea will take you months to drink.

Wow, you have got a tea archive. And I see that you have a goodly stash of Camellia Sinensis teas (the store I mean). Just looking at all that tea makes my mouth water...

Yes, the black bags are a mix of Floating Leaves Tea and Camellia Sinensis. CS is a new vendor for me this year and I have been very impressed. I have several oolongs a few blacks and some Japanese greens.

I am trying to work in every day or two one of the lesser used or unopened teas. Remember this accumulation mostly stemmed from wanting to try everything and buying a lot of stuff before I refined my tastes. Even then your taste does evolve.
