Do all shipments go with signature confirmation?

by Starsky » Nov 23rd, '09, 22:46

I got a text via twitter today that they didn't deliver my package because it required a signature.

Which is weird, because UPS ALWAYS ALWAYS in two years has come at the same time... and today they came about 5 hours earlier than normal and I didn't even get an infonotice so I could sign off for them to leave it if possible, or pawn it off on my neighbor who is willing to sign.

This makes me sad, I was SO EXCITED about getting my ingenuiTEA and samples :(

Moved to Adagio>Feedback, should get better play here, and get heard by Adagio.

Thanks for moving it somewhere more appropriate :)

Well, I called and was told they'd deliver between 2pm and 5pm.

I made sure I got home by 1:30 (left work early) and had a notice that they tried to deliver at 1:15 today.

I have tomorrow off, so lets see what happens. I have no way to drive to UPS to pick it up, or I would just do that.

This entire thing is a giant headache. As long as things are shipped with delivery signature required, I will not be ordering anything else from Adagio.

I tried calling UPS this morning and asking to have it dropped off because it isn't an expensive item and I don't care about signing for it, or to request my downstairs neighbor be rung in the case that I am "unavailable" though I will be here all day, I have had the UPS guy leave because I had to walk down from my third floor apartment and apparently it took too long (dont get me started) and the basically told me that Adagio specifically required it and too bad for me.

UPS is too flakey, does not show up during the time frame they state on the infonotices and I don't have the luxury of sitting around waiting outside of the times they give me, or going to work hours early or waiting there after I get out if I have it shipped there instead.

Requiring a signature (I can't even use the "sign the info notice so they'll leave it on the porch" section!) for a $20 package isn't something I really want to deal with.

Heaven forbid I don't make it down three flights of stairs fast enough today when UPS rings the bell - my package is going to be sent back to Adagio. It has happened before.

I am currently waiting for the 2-5pm delivery span (though its noon now) sitting by my door in complete silence other than tapping my keyboard so I can book it downstairs when the bell rings.

Hmm I've never had to sign for delivery confirmation (from adagio). I just got an order in last week and UPS just left it in front of my door, which is fine by me.

Hi Starsky,

Really sorry to hear that you had such a hassle with UPS- I'm not quite sure why they would state that we 'require signatures' because we don't! As a company you have to pay for that actual service, and we do not have that in our plan/service agreement with UPS currently. However, if a driver does not feel comfortable leaving a package behind, they will ask for a signature or to meet the customer to receive the package.

I went ahead and forwarded your series of messages to our UPS rep. I have also PM'd you to figure out what to do about your package. Again, we're really sorry on behalf of our courier for all this inconvenience.

My issue is definitely with UPS right now. I got my package, mainly because I made sure to be outside for two hours waiting for it in the cold (lol) during the period they gave me on the info notice, right after I posted here.

I was afraid it would be sent back, and then I would have been sad.

I have no idea why the driver wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the package - he leaves every other package I get.

The ONE package that I had that I knew required a signature, a few months ago....I specifically took the time off from work (important package, and expensive) and he never showed up. When the doorbell rang, I thought it was UPS, and it was an unexpected FedEx package, which is how I found the info notice for UPS. I was LIVID. The UPS driver was made to come back and deliver, because it was time sensitive and pretty much yelled at me that he rang the bell and I didn't answer. Which just made me mad because FedEx had managed to ring my bell that day, as well as my mom, the landlord and the mailman. (also, he managed to ring the bell on his return trip).

Now I'm paranoid, because I order the majority of my xmas gifts online instead of dealing with insane crowds of people, that he's going to just stop dropping stuff off. Ugh.

Good to see Adagio is working on rectifying the situation for you, Starsky.

Sounds more like a driver with an attitude problem ...

Starsky mentioned earlier that he had no way to go pickup the package from UPS.

I've had similar goofiness with UPS -- they leave a notice with a time frame, so I try to leave work early the next day to beat them home, and they've already been there. More frustratingly, depending on the driver, sometimes the driver will just leave the package anyway (usually on the last attempt).

Initially I tried leaving a note that said "please leave with the front office" and I got a missed delivery notice the next day that said "office will not sign for" (which is bull**** because they take my FedEx packages all the time).

It sucks when you're trying to guess what kind of UPS driver you're dealing with! Unfortunately I can't remember how most of my Adagio packages have arrived... I want to say that they've just been left at my door...

In any case, I'm glad to hear that you finally got your package! I am in a similar boat of getting fed-up with UPS for similar reasons.
