Saturday TeaDay 12/12/09 Tea Tasting Mantra?

Most definitely try anything once. This is assuming of course they were made and offered to me in someone's home or at a tasting. Beyond that I get rather picky, as in; I have broad scope of what I have tried. I can tell you have have thrown samples out, unopened. I think most people are/will respond for the love of tea, and try other good teas. It's just those well intended gifted teas/teabags, that may not get tried.

In my cup this morning - Mariage Freres Saphir Darjeeling. The re-order that gave me so much trouble. Was it worth it? At this moment ... absolutely.

Yak Butter tea is one I would likely not try either ...

After growing a SCOBY for kombucha, I'll try anything... and I do like butter... lol

I've had the one from yunnanSourcing thats aged 9 years and its really nothing like what you would expect.

Brad, would you happen to have a link? I'm having a bit of a hard time locating it on Yunnan Sourcing's eBay store.

I would have to say its is like a mantra for myself. I've only noticed one thing I would rather not try and thats kombucha it just looks gross.

I'll try pretty much any tea at least once. However some teas only get a couple of sips before I toss them. Chamomile, I'm looking at you.

Funny story: Growing up, I always thought that I hated tea. Mainly because the only thing that I knew of as tea was chamomile. I actually didn't learn differently till last winter, when I accidentally bought genmaicha when I was sick. Best mistake I ever made.

I'll try most teas, except puerh, because I've tried two puerh and found them undrinkable So, you can get me to try most anything else in the tea world.

If you want to try yak butter tea then this is your chance but honestly I didn't find it all that great. Its interesting and I thought it was worth the money just to try yak butter tea but will probably not buy it again, at least anytime soon.

Yesterday I got a new supply of tea from an eBay seller who had my fave "regular" Nilgiri Glendale. I was so excited that I drank two big cups of it at 7:00 and at 9:30. Needless to say, it was a sleepless night. But so worth it to enjoy the Glendale again!

What seller is this? Is the Glendale Nilgiri as good as the FOP one that TeaSource no longer has?

I will try most things at least once, but there are certain teas that smell so pungent or terrible that I won't even try a sip after brewing. If I can get past the aroma, I will willing try just about anything because you never know when you will find a new favorite.

Currently in my cup is a homemade chai blend that was simmered on the stove top with enough spices to make my tongue tingle and brewed strong enough to taste the tea. My fiance was even brave enough to try some, but it was not quite the way too milky, overly sweetened chai he was expecting.

I am willing to try just about anything, with the exception of the Yak Butter Tea that everyone says is so repulsive. But I'm not planning any trips to Tibet anytime soon, so I don't think I need to worry about that one!

It is Angelina's Teas. They are based in Winston-Salem, NC. I think they are more "western" than other sellers that are discussed here on TC.

Mugi that was preroasted and sold in Korean markets earlier ... have to say, mine is better! And just finished some Hatsumi from O-Cha with DW.

CK, I've been out of the TeaSource FOP for a while now, but this seems to be as good as that was. It was just YUM!

Chip, I guess I got the impression that they sold mainly black teas. But now that I look they also have Puerh, Greens, etc. but I didn't see any teaware. Or maybe I just thought western because it's in the U.S.

I will try any tea once but I am not keen on tea that has Chai in it. I wish I could try all of them one day but I know that will never happen.


Chip...speaking of Tibet, have you seen the Series on the Link channel called A YEAR IN TIBET? It is really good show. I am also like you no Yak Butter Tea for me.
