LoL, I guess it wouldn't hurt to interrogate the lawn ornaments. Believe it or not, I do have 3 gnomes--all 'gifts' from different sorority sisters--hidden under a few shrubberies. (You make one lame joke about the "Garden Gnome Liberation Front" and suddenly you're running a rehab center for unwanted kitsch.)

I hear you about getting to know the USPS and UPS people, though. I live above my dad's business and work there too, so I sign for a lot of packages. By this point, I could tell you how many children our USPS driver has and the breed of her dog. The FedEx Express guys are starting to stick around longer, too.

But Ground? Dunno. I hear they are independent contractors instead of FedEx employees, so maybe there is higher turnover. Still, I live on the 2nd busiest street in my city, and my last name is emblazoned in huge green letters on the front of my building (it's an office, if you'll remember). The driver either had to be a complete moron, or was inexplicably lost and chucked the package so he could still make a sliver of profit. Either way, I'm missing out on good tea!

...lol...or the Fed Ex driver was in need of a tea fix himself.

...most likely it was one of your gnomes. According to gnomelore, where there are three or more gnomes, mischief is bound to be the norm.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I just check on my shipment, due to arrive today. There was a delivery exception...according to them, "customer not available for business closed". Baloney!!! We open at 7am and someone is up front the entire day.

Then again, it might help if they didnt' put it on the truck for deliveries in St. Paul, on the OTHER SIDE OF THE METRO!!!

Don't the package handlers have maps???

The garden gnomes have been cleared and the saga is over. I have tea, though it was obtained through absolutely no help of FedEx.

I'm a good sport. I called FedEx, filled out a lost package form, waited 7 business days, and then tried to talk to a human to figure out why my lost package form was now lost. It was great fun. Especially when one representative said that FedEx would not find/reimburse my package because "according to their records, it was delivered to the door." I think I might have drawn blood.

Then a nice man showed up at my door, gave me a box, said it had been sent to him by mistake. He said that he'd tried contacting FedEx to have them take it back, but was eventually told by a rep that he would have to pay to have it re-sent. (I really hope that's not their policy!) So he drove across town to deliver it himself.

I'm wonderfully touched by his kindness, and I'm glad I finally have my tea...it looks amazing and I can't wait to try it...but I have to say I'm really upset with FedEx Ground's service and customer support.

Mary, I love it when they make you feel like you did something wrong when they screw up. That story sounds like a sit com episode from Seinfeld. The fact that they would not come and pick up the errantly delivered package is mind blowing. My apologies to the gnomes!!!

...fed ex is the absolute pits...period...I had yet another Fed Ex blunder this holiday. My brother sent me a gift. I always say no fed ex to vendors when I make a purchase...but I cannot control gifts sent to me.

So the address was correct on the label, but they repeatedly attempted to deliver it to a "Street" vs. a "Drive". When the driver came to my door, he then proceeded to "interogate" me to make sure I was the correct recipient. When I shut the door, it just hit me how badly he treated me...I mean come on...they screwed up, not me.

I am sorry, but they just seem to be trying to be rude and inept. They have failed to deliver a package to me without some kind of screw up for the last decade...as I stated earlier, this is not an exageration. How can they be so bad and still be in business?????

the joy of fed ex where i live is that they never leave a note on the door, so we don't know about our package... which is ok since we live at an apt, we can check at the office. at our old place they left in on the porch regularly, with little shelter when a rainy cold front is blowing in. fed ex's response is "oh yeah...well we delivered it! thank you for choosing fex ex"

but ups on the other hand... oy! we get boxes that are regardless of how they are packed are crushed, tape no longer sticking to the box, and usually in some state of openness. i have literally seen tire scuffs on a box before. usp's response is always "improper packing." errr...yeah well i don't think most people plan to have their box crush tested and run over

they both have their faults imo

The funny thing is, I have never had a problem with UPS...never. And I have the same driver that I have had since the pony express. Fed Ex is never the same driver twice...and a problem every single time....simply defying all laws of probability...

Go figure???
