I'm with Geek on this one. After the Great Ice Storm of 2008, being without power or phone for 2 weeks, and without running water for several days of that time... I am boycotting winter weather this year. Our entire region was completely shut down because of the massive number of power lines down and transformers destroyed due to trees collapsing everywhere. It was akin to a hurricane-like disaster... no gasoline for 75 miles around us... crazy. You have not lived til you've had to retrieve buckets-full of icicles from the rooflines and trees, so you can melt them in order to be able to flush the toilets. Ahhh memories. :? Snow is fine, but ice can just stay away this year!

My thoughts are with those of you in the northeast who are buried in snow. I know many are without power, and I remember all too well how challenging that can be. I hope all are staying safe and warm.

Puttabong FF in my cup so far today.

Sarah

I love watching the snow fall; and as I don't get out very often, I just don't go out when it snows! However, I do feel for the folks that deal with it all the time and are endangered or inconvenienced by it.

Cherry Blossom, a Harney and Sons blend of full-leaf green tea and cherry, in my new Little Pigs Pottery celadon cup this morning. Very smooth, and a delightful aroma to it. I'm content.

I don't like snow at all!

If I never saw snow again it would be too soon. When I was a younger like elementary school snow was fun and snow days were a blast but now that I have to drive to work and get things done its a big pain and no fun at all. I am outside all the time during spring, summer and fall so it just kills me to sit inside during the cold months. On top of this I work outside all day so when its cold and snowy I have to be out in it.

long jing in my cup today

At times I like it and others I do not. I have always kinda liked shoveling snow, breathing the crisp air, nothing but white everywhere, incredibly beautiful. But a day or less later, reality kicks in and I long for Spring ... and yesterday Winter had not even begun.

Interjecting ... Happy Winter everyone!

We had around 6 or so inches yesterday, mostly fluffy. The sun is out now and the snow is beckoning to be shoveled. Broke the handle on shovel numero uno, so the back up is going to make the chore less enjoyable.

Began the TD with Hatsumi from O-Cha in SO #5 Ao Hagi. SweeTea joined in while Wulong and Ceylon paid a visit.

Argh...don't like winter...don't like cold...don't like wind...don't like grey skies...don't like icy streets...don't like icy sidewalks and steps...don't like snow...don't like winter. I'd be perfectly happy to skip from cool crisp fall days right to spring. Count me as another Vitamin D junkie!

Having done all that griping...I will admit that I do appreciate how pretty a little bit of new snow can be. Years ago we had an overnight ice storm here that the morning sun transformed into breathtaking beauty...I still feel like getting to see that was a special gift from God.

We had a little bit of snow on Friday night...it didn't stick on the roads or sidewalks. It was cold and cloudy enough yesterday that it stayed all day and is still around today.

Today so far Yunnan Imperial in my cup.

Have a warm tea day,
Dreamer

I don't mind the cold, but I hate snow. I'm just glad I don't have to shovel this year. Yay apartment living.

Sticking mostly to houji-genmaicha and various blacks today. It's chilly.

I've lived all my life without local snow (grew up in Southern California, now in bay area northern Cal). So I've always had to travel to get to snow.
I kind of like it. But I also appreciate the work and difficulty it entails if you live with it. I don't think I ever want to live with it. But it's awfully nice to visit.
My heart goes out to all those inconvenienced (or worse) by snow and ice and extreme weather of any kind.

matcha wakamatsu this morning, followed by baochong oolong, then aged sheng looseleaf puerh.

A great TD, as usual. Continued with a tasting of Zencha Fuji the Ultimate. Finished with a tasting of Hankook Oolong ... all very good.

Being from Canada snow is just a way of life. I don't "like" snow, but I appreciate it for what it is. We're on the east coast and got a little today, just came in from shoveling and am enjoying a nice cuppa rooibos (reflecting on my trip to South Africa wishing I was back there).

Hope everyone north east weathered the snow safely.

They say that central NY has two seasons: winter and road construction. We get snow for 5 or 6 months out of the year, have frequent lake-effect, blizzards, and cold weather. The Tug Hill Plateau area has it worse, but Syracuse area generally gets hit pretty well with snow during the winter months.

I love winter. I don't function well in heat and humidity, so the cooler weather of the autumn and winter make me happy. Snow, though a pain to drive through at times, is absolutely beautiful. Shoveling, cleaning off the cars and slushy roads are just a way of life.

Currently in my cup is hot chocolate! I had some chai earlier today though.

I dig the way everything looks covered in snow, but not the way people drive in it.
Not really a fan of driving in it myself honestly...
