None for me.
Irish Breakfast blend to start the day.

Matcha this morning.
About to move on to next tea. Hmmm, what should I have?

I think once you get to a certain point of tea-loving, almost everyone gets hard to buy for. Sure, I could drink almost any oolong and enjoy it, but why drink the cheap bagged stuff I find myself choking down when I could be enjoying some fresh Anxi Ti Kuan Yin? I'd rather get one ounce of that for Christmas than the case of Celestial Seasonings I did get. Bah.Chip wrote:After 10 years of drinking tea, I still struggle to throw teas away ... Plus I am such a picky person, I am extremely hard to buy tea for .....

Only one: to drink up some of my stockpile. Last year, around summer, I scaled back my tea purchases a lot, because the tea cupboard was getting to be unmanageable. It still is, but I'm getting through what I like, and disposing of what I dislike. It IS hard to throw out tea!

I completely agree - throwing out tea is just a horrible waste, even if you don't care for it. I'll pawn it off on people (if it's caffeine free, I give it to my mom), or just use the leftovers to make my own blends.
Here's something else I do, which is completely random but does work well: I turn the tea into potpourri. Don't laugh
I just put the leftover tea in a nice dish and add fragrance oil to it - either the potpourri fragrance or some of my leftover soap fragrances (I used to make soap by hand). I then leave it in the bathroom or hallway for a couple weeks and it tends to work well. Of course, it's best to match the scents - like don't mix a floral/rose with a fruity or something (unless you like it). Oh, and don't light a flame anywhere near it!
Turning them into fragrance pouches/sachets like Chip recommended is easy and fun too. You could follow the same steps as above but instead use one of the paper filters (layered) or fabric. I haven't done that yet, but I think I might try it to see how it goes...
Just wanted to share! I'm glad there are others who feel like a piece of their soul is getting tossed when throwing out tea (exaggerate!).
Happy New Year, all!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately.... busy as heck.
No... no resolutions. January 1 is just another day of the 365 that make up one revolution of the planet around the sun.
I don't go out... don't "celebrate" ....... I'll be in bed well before midnight because I have to get up early the next day.
best,

No serious TeaResolutions for me. My consumption costs were within 20% of my budget this year and I'm pleased about that. Now I have to work down the rest of my stocks. I'm a little heavy with sencha and dancong, but I have enough of everything else to last until the new harvest, possibly -- all right probably -- supplemented with some infusions of matcha(!).
Happy New Year everyone.

Me too, never want to throw tea away. Thinking of making a tea pillow and collecting enough tea (and spent tea leaves). Now the problem is, I can't sew, not at all!Chip wrote: After 10 years of drinking tea, I still struggle to throw teas away ... Once my husband told me not to buy him gifts of outdoor equipment or camera stuff. That's a great release for both of us. He is very much into those things and I don't have a clue about them. I think it's a good principle that never give somebody gift within a territory that he is very much into

Re: Wednesday TeaDay 12/30/09 Start a TeaResolution?
I have heard this before and strongly agree. That's why gift certificates exist, after all. Kind of a boring alternative to a "real" gift, but you know they'll get what they want.gingko wrote:I think it's a good principle that never give somebody gift within a territory that he is very much into
Has anyone successfully managed to politely tell someone (like his/her in-laws) that they should stop buying her tea? Or should I just let them have their fun and fine creative ways to use it up?
