Okay folks,

If you are a fan of roasted oolongs please list your current favorites and vendors here for all of our enjoyment! Here are a few of mine...

Mi Xiang......vendor = Tea from Taiwan

Charcoal roasted Dong Ding/Tung Ting .......vendor = Red Blossom Tea Company

Dark Roast Ti Kuan Yin......vendor = Red Blossom Tea Company

Roasted TGY from Houde and Shanshui
Either of the higher roasted Anxi TGY from the TeaGallery
I know Wuyi yancha is roasted but when I think of high roasted teas I only think of TGY.
The Dong Dings from Floating Leaves are also great but not as roasted as the TGYs I mentioned. Although I think that is a good thing.

I love roasted taiwan tea, and have been happy with...

Traditional wood roasted dong ding from Hou De. Rather light in flavor for something roasted, but awesome crunchy chewy taste, and will drink you under the table in durability. I've got 1.5 liters of good taste and could have gone more if my body could take it.

The 2009 roasted TGY from Hou De. Supreme aroma with great nutty grains (that you'd get from something like barley or genmaicha tea) on top of typical tgy. The taste is quite good too.

Stephane from Teamasters Honey Roasted luanze tea. Lightly roasted gaoshan I think. Mellows one out.

I actually logged on to the forum tonight to search for posts about roasted oolongs...and someone just started one. I love this site!

I'm usually not a big fan of heavily roasted oolongs, mostly because I enjoy flowery, grassy, fruity tastes of unroasted tea. However, very lightly roasted oolongs (that combine the nutty flavor of roasting with the fruity flavor of the raw tea) are really growing on me. I'm drinking the traditional Dong Ding from Floating Leaves right now and really, really enjoying it.

If price wasn't a consideration one of my favorite roasted TGY would be Hou De's 2009 Mu Zha TGY. If I'm looking at best bang for my buck, than I think the Kung Fu King at Aroma Tea House should do the trick. Also a huge fan of The Tea Gallery's Classic Roast and Espresso Roast (which I don't know if they carry anymore)

Indeed they do, as well as some brand new roasted Taiwanese teas they just discovered- I'd stay tuned to their website if I were you. :wink:
