Best of luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for you; pneumonia is no fun. At least you have tea to keep spirits up?
Yes, Laura, thank goodness for tea!

I agree with the idea of being able to milk free samples from vendors!!

I just drank my first cups of the day, some kind of lower-grade pu erh that I got in Chinatown (ah well, I'm a poor college student who can't afford the really nice stuff, hehehe). It's yummy though!!

But my general thought about merchandiser/promotion section of any tea forum (or other kinds of forums) is, what's in it for tea drinkers/users? Information from any seller may not be the most important, especially at this internet age. I personally like free stuff :P and hope a forum can be where tea drinkers milk free samples from sellers.
Conflict of interest, only if Adagio thinks there is I guess! I will certainly discuss that with them, but we discuss vendors constantly on the forum. Adagio prefers this versus a closed mouth approach to any vendor except Adadio. This has been my experience for almost 3 years of dealing with them directly.

I remember Michael telling me once when I had an issue with something said by a member:
I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Voltaire
That is a hard quote to live by, but I truly think this sums up Michael's approach to the forum.

Free stuff, ya never know. I am always in a receptive mood.

And finished the TD with Matcha from Zencha with DW in an "epic" Cory Lum Chawan. Great, great TD.

I voted yes..but I also have a conflict of interest. I was actually making a tea timer in my free time for windows (mine was probably going to be free with the possibility of donations :P).

Drinking oolong #8 from adagio

Very interesting topic - and wow, things are a movin' and a shakin' round here, huh?
How about tea timer for iPhone, or is there already an app for that?

Matcha earlier, mix of organic oku yutaka and organic sae midori. Mmm.

I say no opinion just because I don't see myself using it much but would have no problem with it. TeaMerchandisers could be a nice resource for new things carried by our favorite vendors so I can see why some would use it.
I say leave it up to the moderator... it seems like a lot more work to monitor something like this but Im not the one doing it

The cost is to pay for listing fees with palm. ($50 to list and $99 a year after that.) I would be willing to install it for free as a sample for anyone that lives in northern Indiana and has a Palm pre :D Just don't have a way to do it through the store. So it would have to be in person, thats the best I can do as far as free samples go... Sorry to cause all the discussion btw... I hope someone finds my app useful at least after this :) There are a lot of nice timers for the iPhone out there, btw Seeker, when I started mine, for palm there were non, and I wanted a good one :)
On the subject of TeaMerchandiser, I think it would be good to have a section for venders or individuals selling there tea products, especially if its an individual like myself, not a huge company.
I think Chip and other moderators would do a good job making sure forum members were posting and not spammers. Also I am sure they will be able to tell what is direct competition with adagio and things that complement adagio. Adagio does not have any tea apps for sale for example, and I did put a link to them in my "where to buy" tea section, so they might even benefit from it.

Yea there's are already quite a bit out there..nonetheless I was planning on making one till I found out u have to have a mac (which i don't) and pay to list it on the apple store (which wasn't really a big concern).

I say maybe, not being real sure about what kind of merchandise we are talking about. If it's a tea timer made by a (qualifying) member or say tea themed pot holders made by a member, I say yes. But if we are talking a member who has a business and is selling commercial pots/teaware I would say no.

Nearly forgot... I finished off the TD yesterday with something a little different... Adagio's Mango black and Masala Chai steeped in coconut milk, cooked shrimp in it and made a mango salsa (with mango, not tea), and couscous. It was pretty tasty! Not quite enough tea flavor, should have added some crushed leaves to the sauce (tea-curry, I called it).
