I like pearl river market. I wouldn't expect to buy tea stuff there, but a lot of other interesting, useful and inexpensive household stuff to see and buy.

TIM! Thank you for the heads up about Makari, I have not heard of them before... will definitely have to check them out soon.
All the places I was going to mention have already been mentioned.
I would like to give anyone a heads up though that the housewares store at Mitsuwa is pretty good if you're looking for general dishware, and they do have a good selection of tea items too, but it isn't the place to go if you are looking for high-end or real unique items.

Edgewater is closer to NYC than most of the rest of New York is. And yes, it is all Japanese
