Re: Kamjove kettle meltdown!

Does anybody own V-908? I do.
i bought it because it should have temperature control (three modes 50, 80, 90 C) and is not an induction kettle.
the problem is, despite of the selected heating mode the kettle always boils the water to 100 C.Then it just waits till the water cools down to selected temperature, beeps and starts boiling again.
I asked Gordon from DTH if this is the way it should be, he

"Hi,
That is normal. The kettle has to boil the water first to make sure it is sterilized. After that, temperature drops till the one you set, it turns on and reboil water to make sure water is not below desired temperature.
Best Regards,
Gordon
Dragon Tea House"

i think such system is not rational.Rational would be to make sure water is not above desired temperature

Could the kettle have "keep warm" function? if yes, then it makes sense.

Do all the Kamjove kettles beep? That would be a downer for the workplace.

As mentioned before, only the induction ones, as far as I know. You can disable it if you have basic electronic tools.

Sorry, I guess I can't tell if the V-60 is an induction model or not. http://birdpick.com/850584.html

No - that's a standard style with a (built in) standard heating element.
Of the models on that site, only http://birdpick.com/850585.html is induction. To the best of my knowledge, none of the other ones beep. I have had good experiences with the TP-680.

If you're local, or can get someone to buy one for you in LA, you can buy the same stuff at cheaper prices at Wing Hop Fung, which is essentially the same shop (Bird Pick is a new outfit run by the daughter of the family that owns WHF). They carry essentially the same stuff, but the prices are roughly 20-25% higher at Bird Pick.

If you don't mind paying for / waiting for shipping from China, Dragon Tea House carries some 110V models:

however with the lunar New Year fast approaching, you most likely wouldn't get it anytime soon.

Yeah, I got over a year on mine and it went kaput. I wised up and bought a lin's ceramic kettle.
